  • Simply Red

According to our current countdown, Simply Red are UKMIX'S 60th most popular group/band.

They disbanded in 2010, and gave their final concert in the run up to Christmas of that very same year. For me, they are one of the greatest groups of all-time, and Hucknall has one of the most soulful voices of any front man you'll ever come across, in my opinion.

Whilst they have no new music to release, and Hucknall has no plans for a reunion [instead focusing on an anticipated - by me - solo album], I still think they're a band that has many fans! And should be talked about

Wasn't sure whether to post here, or retro, but I figured that there's other retired acts here, so why not here

    And Simply Red fans?

It's actually my favourite group of all time.

Sunrise is my favourite song. Fake is also a great, funky tune. The whole HOME album was such a hit in Germany back in 2003/2004, especially on the radio.

Their earlier hits such as Stars or Fairground are legendary hits in Germany.

Mick's voice is so emotional and he's such a clever songwriter. Love them so much!

I have no idea about their commercial success, but according to wikipedia they have had an amazing career in the UK. They sold a sh*tload of albums there.

The media comments about them shifting 50m albums worldwide, are actually - a true reflection of their worldwide sales [they've done around 50-51m albums worldwide].

In the UK, they've sold upwards of 14m albums.

            They are amazing.

And mick is an incredible singer.
I always wonder why he is not appreciated as a legend the same way some of his contemporaries are.

I love their sound. I found it funny that a thread is open now because 2 weeks ago i downloaded the greatest hits(red cover) and the 25 greatest hits. I've been listening to them a lot.
Do you care for me beyond idolization?

I might just make a chill, relaxing, RnB playlist. Simply Red, Sade, Janet Jackson, George Michael etc.

Such a "feel good" song! The video reminds me of Britney Spears - Till The World Ends, meets Kylie Minogue - Spinning Around.

This fat pop-soul/tribal house stomp was something of a cult hit in the States at the time. Not much in the way of radio play, but a decent hit in the clubs and heavy video play on VH-1. Always splendid balladeer, Mick's voice sounds strangely at home soaring over a percussive groove; who knew he'd make such an awesome dance divo? Versatility, baby!

The sands of time fade into dark
Feel your pulse it's groove o'clock
                                                  A message to madness
                                                  Feel music that's realness
