For the first time, I guess I agree with Cardi B here. It's only natural that we like some artists more than others, but everyone who earned a nomination worked for it and deserved their moment to shine.
Instead of having an ego trip, the Weeknd should work harder and maybe get a nomination next time. There's no guarantee for anyone to get an award.
And yes, there are small and independent artists who deserve their little bit of mainstream attention as well. From his mixtape days, the Weeknd should know what it's like not to be in the top 10 for months.

I have to ask a final time, just to be sure: The show is not going to air in Germany, is it?Last edited by theMathematician; Sun March 14, 2021, 12:35.

I agree with Cardi B.
Many iconic and absolutely brilliant artists have NEVER won a Grammy (e.g., Tori Amos, Kate Bush, PJ Harvey). Madonna was also ignored for years, so was Cher, Britney Spears, and many other mainstream artists. The Weeknd won 3 and scored many other nominations in the past - I don't understand his reaction.Haven't been early since '88

I still think that the main issue The Weeknd was snubbed was because he took a risk and submitted to Pop instead of Urban. If he submitted in the latter he probably would have had a couple noms. That doesn't explain his exclusion in the general field, but it did play a part.Rest In Peace Lilly!

Ultimately, I believe both Cardi and The Weeknd's points are true. It's awesome for the unknown and "uncelebrated" artists but that doesnt mean the process is necessarily transparent or fair.

I do agree that there needs to be more transparency though.Rest In Peace Lilly!

Final Predictions:
Album of the Year: folklore
Record of the Year: Don't Start Now
Song of the Year: Cardigan
Best New Artist: Megan Thee Stallion
Pop Solo: Don't Start Now
Pop Duo/Group: Dynamite
Pop Vocal Album: folklore
Best Progressive R&B Album: Chilombo
Best R&B Performance: Black Parade
Best Traditional R&B Performance: I Wonder What She Thinks of Me
Best R&B Song: Better Than I Imagined
Rap Performance: Savage
Melodic Rap Performance: Rockstar
Rap Song: Savage
Rap Album: King's Disease
I am personally rooting for Dua to get AOTY, but both are worthy winners. I don't follow the other categories as close., but I hope Kiwanuka gets Best Rock Album.
I'm also hoping for a Black Parade sweep, but considering the lack of promo or music video, it seems very unlikely. On the other hand, Ungodly Hour could pull a Pharell and win Best Progressive R&B Album.
We'll find out in a couple hours.
Rest In Peace Lilly!
