I love BOTH but I didn't think it would rank that high tbh. It's my 2nd favorite cover tho, but I would put originals over it tbh.

Too high for me.
I like the song but it can't have the same average points that songs like Miss You Most, Vanishing and Melt Away.
It belongs to another category IMO.

Vanishing deserved better tho
I thought it would be around the Top 25-ish.

When Mariah was on fire!! This is a solid record,with some strong moments on it, like "Hero", "Anytime You Need A Friend" and "All I've Ever Wanted".

Still, I find her debut album the best she ever did

Hero - Sorry but I think this is Mariah's most overrated song ever. I find it corny although I can understand how many people relate to it. Lyrical message aside, I never got into its melody. I find it basic and nothing special. I prefer the re-recorded 2009 version. I feel more soul in Mariah's voice.

The vocals on Outside are insane! Definitely my favourite Mariah song.

Outside is, according to me, the best studio vocal performance by a female artist. No?

Or at least top 5. I mean, in the history of modern music, say 100 years?, top 5 means a big big big deal.

That vocal is just, WOW!
O Holy Night, and Subtle Invitation are also contenders. What do you guys think?

Outside - This track is one of my favourite songs of all time. It touched me in a way that no other song has. The lyrics are so relatable - and Mariah's vocals still leave me breathless. I know it's said time and time again, but this song has truly gotten me through some difficult times, and it does still inspire me today.

Outside still gives me the holy ghost, chills and makes tear up.

After listening to the acapella version of Outside, I don't think I'll ever use the regular version of it again.

One of her best songs. Its so beautiful. Definitely deserved that record.

One of the greatest ballads of all-time.

Despacito is a fun song, but to tie the record of this is not great.

The a cappella version is also amazing!

This song is the best thing ever, Mariah serving dem runs and the harmonies giving me all the gospel I need in my life.

Hero is the first Mariah song that I heard in my life. I was around 11. She released it in 1993. Three years later, someone close to me would become a hero. I shared this true story before. A man along with his two nephews and a few other relatives were coming back home from the market on a boat. All of a sudden, a huge wave capsized it. All 5 of them were thrown into the water. Not all of them could swim. But this brave man held his two young nephews close together. Thankfully, a sailing man saw them panicking and saved them before they all got drowned. But only for 4 of them were saved. The man who was holding the two boys a few minutes ago lost all his energy. His body was recovered the next day.

And then a hero came along... It was my uncle Bobbing. He was a kind man. My two cousins are still alive because of him.

Wow I’m really surprised at Hero coming in at #40, I expected a top 10 finish. Like IDWC, for me the ultimate version is Tokyo dome, those vocals are amazing. I’m also surprised that OSD scored higher. While I can appreciate OSD and Outside, neither of them are on my favourites list.
Can’t wait to see the rest of the top 40.
