The Mariah Carey Discography Rate - Album Averages
Emancipation has like a million songs anyway so it’s not a fair playing ground. Songs only in the top 100 might have been a better comparison. All that matters is #1.
What an amazing top 2. No surprises there. In fact I think the rankings of the albums aren't overly surprising upon reflection, other than TEOM and Glitter ranking relatively lower than I expected.
We are leaving out spiritboy (voted for 44% of the songs with a 6,738 avg), Thriller (voted for 20% of the songs with a 7,621 avg), matthew (voted for 17% of the songs with a 6,579 avg) and leoavalon (voted for 4% of the songs with a 7,357 avg).
And the overall average of all her discography stands at: 7,054!
#2 The Roof (Back In Time) #7 My All #8 Honey #14 Breakdown (ft. Krayzie Bone & Wish Bone) #15 Butterfly #26 Close My Eyes #29 Whenever You Call #39 Outside #68 Fourth of July #83 The Beautiful Ones (ft. Dru Hill) #90 Babydoll #96 Honey (Classic Club Mix) #173 Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise) #212 Honey (ft. Da Brat & Jermaine Dupri) [So So Def Mix]
No way we can even question this result... leaving out the dance remixes included in at least the official album I bought back in 1997, ALL the tracks ended up inside the top100!!!! An outstanding 3 Top10 and 5 Top20, This is not only Mariah's more cherished work based on countless times she mentioned it, it's also ukmix lambs favourite too! The Roof was close to steal the spotlight and win the whole thing, Close My eyes is the highest non-single at "6 and Whenever You Call the lowest single at a solid #29. My personal fav, an album I still listen and captivates me, I am glad to name Butterfly Mimi's best ranked album in this amazing rank that bm08 created some months ago.
#3 Always Be My Baby #4 Fantasy #25 Underneath the Stars #38 One Sweet Day (with Boyz II Men) #43 Melt Away #78 Looking In #97 Forever #118 Long Ago #130 I Am Free #140 Open Arms #151 When I Saw You #267 Daydream Interlude (Fantasy Sweet Dub Mix)
With 2 Top10 and 7 Top100 entries we find Daydream! This album consolidated Mariah's superstar status globally and contained the 90s song of the decade in the US! Lowest single is Open Arms at #140, while the hisghest non-single is Melt Away at #43!
It's interesting that this only averaged 0.02 more than Caution!
This album gets a lot of love, but equally some hate. It is indeed a "safe" album, but that started to pave the path to her R&B inclusion, and consolidated her as a true global star. The top ranked single, and song overall, is Anytime at #21, so no top20 for this and "just" 5 top100. Less number of songs definetly benefits its average! The highest non-single is Music Box at #100.Lowest ranked single is Never Forget You at a distant #191.
Very surprised that not one song from Music Box made the top 20.
I sense maybe a bit of bias against the album based on its AC reputation. Shame.

These are ALBUM averages, so remixes are not counted. Only songs included in the actual album release, considering official releases. Only remixes couting are the ones included in the actual album, such as Heartbreaker Remix, Honey So So Def, Honey Club, TTR Remix, Daydream Interlude, etc-.
Oops yeah!
It’s good that its done that way given just how low some of the remixes were rated. A shame.
It's amazing to see Caution so high in the averages!
I think the multitude of remixes really impacted some of the album eras.

#10 Giving Me Life (ft. Blood Orange & Slick Rick) #11 Caution #53 With You #55 The Distance (ft. Ty Dolla $ign) #71 A No No #72 GTFO #80 8th Grade #99 One Mo' Gen #183 Portrait #226 Stay Long Love You (ft. Gunna)
Massive performance by this album, with 8 Top100 out of 10 entries!!! And even more interesting that it top 2 songs, at #10 and #11, are non-singles! Highest ranked single is With You at #53, while the lowest ranked single is GTFO at #72.
#5 All I Want For Christmas Is You #12 O Holy Night #33 Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) #46 Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) #47 Joy To the World #124 Hark! The Herald Angels Sing / Gloria (In Excelsis Deo) #154 Silent Night #166 Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town #186 Jesus Oh What a Wonderful Child #200 Jesus Born On This Day #215 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Amazing performance by a Christmas album! Xmas GOAT at #5 pushes the album up. But also the fact that it scored 5 Top100!!!
#21 Anytime You Need a Friend #23 Dreamlover #37 Without You #40 Hero #100 Music Box #150 Now That I Know #162 All I've Ever Wanted #184 Just to Hold You Once Again #191 Never Forget You #214 I've Been Thinking About You

Five Top100 with lead single, the one that started it all, at a solid #6! Lowest ranked sintgle is There's Got To... at #197. Vanishing at #44 is the highest ranked non-single!
#1 We Belong Together #19 Fly Like a Bird #22 It's Like That #56 Shake It Off #63 Mine Again #70 We Belong Together (Remix) [ft. Jadakiss & Styles P] #73 Don't Forget About Us #85 Stay the Night #91 Circles #131 I Wish You Knew #136 So Lonely (One and Only Pt. II) [with Twista] #146 Say Somethin' (ft. Snoop Dogg) #147 Get Your Number (ft. Jermaine Dupri) #205 Your Girl #209 Joy Ride #210 One and Only (ft. Twista) #264 Makin' It Last All Night (What It Do) [ft. Jermaine Dupri] #311 To the Floor (ft. Nelly)
I am not sure if I am surprised or not about Mimi at #7... For such an iconic moment in her career, I would say I am! With 9 Top100, including the #1 GOAT, it probably is affected by such a large number of songs, and the Platinum edition bringing low scores in... Lowest ranked single is Get Your Number at #147 while highest non.single is Scream Again at #63, as I consider Fly Like a Bird a promo single...
18 Everything Fades Away 31 Out Here On My Own 35 Slipping Away 60 Do You Think of Me 74 Here We Go Around Again 75 Mesmerized 127 Loverboy (Firecracker - Original Version) 128 Just Be Good To Me (Live at the Tokyo Dome) 129 Cool On You 149 All I Live For 163 Can You Hear Me 164 One Night 172 Lullaby of Birdland (Live) 177 Save the Day (with Ms. Lauryn Hill) 219 I Pray 275 Close My Eyes (Acoustic)
Very cool 6 Top100 entries, with EFA atop all at #18!
