I think "Formation" was already out somewhere on the bubbling under, no? The Lemonade era in general wasn't THAT big internationally so I didn't expect any of the singles to be in the top 10. Fingers crossed for "Drunk in Love" though!

Yay for "God Is A Woman" (her best video by far) and "Just Give Me A Reason". Never liked "Breathing" though, I thought it was highly overrated by the fans.

    • How many Rihanna songs left though? I feel like she still has a lot.

Oh... it has to be my #2 or #4 then, cause I don't see my #3 being lower than the other two. Can't wait to find out

        • Good For Ya is a mood, Thank U next was fun, as was the video, the Kris Jenner 'thank u next bitch!' meme was hilarious.

Alejandro's video was very subversive of expectation. Everyone expected a summery, spanish affair as the style of song could be taken, and she comes with this cold, Icy DADT inspired clip with religious imagery and guns etc. Dance In The Dark was a radio single in Australia.

Call Me Maybe was pop at its best from Carly, so catchy. Funny twist ending in the video, interesting the story behind the scenes. A lot of us have definitely been Carly in the video though in regard to checking out the hotties.

Cool placing for Born This Way, had I not voted Perfect Illusion due to 3 song limit I would have given it another 35-40 ish points I would say (so maybe around ten places higher?). It 'came out' about a week after I did (see what I did there ) to my mum via a DVD message I had made. Even though I think coming out should not need be a massive deal made, I did want to personally let my mum know from myself as we are so close. everyone else whenever it might come up. no biggie.

The song itself has a few 'heart was in the right place lines' (as mentioned the chola and orient pieces didnt go over the best in some circles) I even take the 'dont be a drag just be a queen' lines and sometimes do the second bit as 'king' and third as 'anything' and take the silence at the end bit could also mean 'don't be (nothing)'. in regards to the message of just being yourself, in whatever way that is for you.

Blank Space is the highest Taylor song? the 3 song limit really was in play there, I was expecting Shake It Off at least still to come. It has me questioning what else is in the top 15 apart for my four remaining and the ultra obvious like 3 Adele monster hits, if We have already seen the top for the likes of Britney, Madonna, Taylor, Kylie, Mariah...

Royals was an interesting song, It's really laid back, but it does have some deeper lyrical content and the way the videos are cut and edit kinda also gives off a slight weird vibe. Lorde's general style is something Billie Eilish is following a similar lane in a couple years later IMO.

Would've been timely for God is a Woman to have been updated Sunday (International Womens' Day). Breathin' was in my top 10 votes, Remember for a bit there we thought the only video we were gonna get for it was the one with the piglet? LOL.

Just Give Me A Reason is nice. All The Lovers was a great lead single, I too love the video game esque bridge section before the last chorus, It was executed well in the tour (I went and seen the theatrical release) with the water fountains going off and all.

Love Me Like You Do was great for Ellie, it went #1 here. IIRC it was also the highest ranked 2010's soundtrack song in my countdown at the time (ran mid 2017) at #26 or thereabouts.

So yeah, an update on my list, 4 left, wonder what else is coming up unless they could be some surprises.

I suppose, but the top 100 leans heavily towards the first half of the decade.

...and then "Breathin" came along! For me, it's one of the most comforting songs ever.
I love that they appeared back-to-back And it didn't strike me how different the themes were until I did the write-ups.

How quickly we all forget Formation made the top 100, though near the bottom. It was at #94.

              • So, the flow works better if I do three per day now (Originally, I was going to do five today, and then spend three days on the top ten, so this is just one extra day.)

                      • "Teenage Dream" is great pop fun. Didn't know any of that stuff happened with the male model. I also would've expected he'd be paid more than $650 for the video, too.

"Drunk in Love" was my #1 because it's beyond brilliant and Queen B's best song.

"No Tears Left to Cry" took a year to grow on me, but I like it quite a bit now. Love how you turned the title upside down as well!

Yeah, they're both so brilliant and so different. Them appearing back to back is perfect.

Yeah after reading the low pay on two of these (the guy from Call Me Maybe got $500), I'm really surprised. They probably get told that the "exposure" is worth it. Here's the Insta post where the Teenage Dream dude made the accusation:

Like Do What U Want, I'm looking forward to you expanding on your interest in it. The whole time i did my write-up, I was like, what is Akini going to say about this? Drunk In Love was Bey's most successful song on my personal chart this past decade (even though I admire Formation).

You were the only person to vote for your #50 so it's at the bottom of the countdown. I'll see if I left it off though.

Your final five are pretty scattered; I think you have at least one song in each of the last four days!

                              • Such a cute touch of writing NTLTC upside down.
I have received many gifts from God,
but this is the first time I have ever received a gift from a goddess

                                • Teenage Dream is one of my favorite all-time singles and my fave Katy song.

I find really hard to believe that accusation from its music video actor to Katy. Why would she pull his pants down in front of everybody? She's kind of silly but not that much. Plus, he posted photos with Katy before saying how wonderful she was. I understand you can come out years after an abuse incident, but why would he praise her for years instead of being silent? Weird.

Drunk in Love is overrated on the Internet, glad I never heard it in real life (as most Beyoncé singles since she's local af).

no tears left to cry is the best Ariana song but I don't understand why y'all love her so much. Sweetener isn't a good album at all

                                  • Teenage Dream and Drunk in love are good.
I am not trying to seduce you... Would you like me to seduce you? Is that what you're trying to tell me?

                                    • Looooooooooooooove "Drunk in Love". My #6. One of her finest & best-produced Urban songs to be honest. Honestly didn't like it when it first came out, the structure of the song was kinda weird to me and I was confused why they decided to push it instead of "Mine" feat. Drake, but it ended up as one my favorite songs of her. The live version from the Mrs. Carter Show slaps as well with all the dramatic effects in the background.

"Teenage Dream" is easily one of the best Pop songs ever. My #4. You just can't help but sing along during the chorus and the bridge!

P.S. cheapthrills you better fix that "Drunk in Love" video.

                                      • NTLTC has an awesome video, the whole upside down aesthetic, one of the standouts of 2018.
Teenage Dream has that big chorus. Drunk In Love has great flow. And
cheapthrills using that iconic SURFBORDT line as the quote that became kinda its own little meme from the song (like how YouTube reactor AjayII has one of her catchphrase’ ‘Periodt.’) Haha.

Who knows... maybe he was hoping to use that industry connection. I wonder if the guy has done anything as high profile since.

I actually love the songs, but I do have to say I was surprised by Sweetener's performance here. I really thought Into You or thank u next would be the star song before this all started. (I didn't vote for either or those myself though.)

I got the Bey album for Christmas that year and have to say I was initially underwhelmed, but repeated listening made this one a standout. I actually like the song for her daughter on there the most though.
