BLACKPINK, Red Velvet and Twice are reaching new levels of stardom internationally and it's so good to see from following most of them from debut. Everytime BLACKPINK does anything, it takes them to a new level. Twice are so consistently good and RV have had some blips along the way but nonetheless they are stellar, and so different to everything else that is out there right now. This year alone we have Kill This Love, breaking records, Fancy which is amazing, Zimzalabim and Umpah Umpah which are both so different but so great as well as all of the other amazing kpop songs that have been released along the way this year it's just exploding.we fell dangerously in love, confronted resentment
questioned our sweet dreams. began the countdown
held onto blue, survived the love drought
and realised we're part of something bigger

Out of all the girl groups I like, I think Red Velvet is the most consistent and probably my favourite; and I'd find it so difficult to pick a favourite song; There is something about them that clicks with me. Pretty much every prolific comeback I hear on first listen I love. There is so much variety and their quirky, colourful, often trippy MV's are outstanding. RV's harmonies are beautiful and Wendy's power vocals don't antagonise me. In fact, I really like them. Until I discovered Red Velvet I was never a fan of that kind of singing
Umpah Umpah may not slap you in the face and shout wake up in the way Zimzalabim or Really Bad Boy does which is fine as it's a laid-back, playful, sort of funky, Velvet side song.Last edited by Kpop; Wed August 21, 2019, 23:03.

I like Everglow's Adios although it does sound BlackPinkish. I think the MV is good; however, it's a bit too minimilistic in design and colour for my taste. I prefer the more unique and interesting Bon Bon Chocolat and it's MV has better choreography

I'm starting to get familiar with the members as well and I feel like Jaemin is soooo gonna be a star in the next years. I won't be surprised if he'll dabble into K-Dramas as well.
Jaemin is just oozing with appeal with this one, I agree.

The song reminds me so much of male idol groups of the early 2010s (ZE:A and Infinite to be exact) in terms of the style and arrangement, with a current production (in similar veins to the recent singles of GOT7 and ONEUS). So, it basically sounds like a mixture of old and new k-pop boy groups.

I'm confused though, so Mark & Taeyong are gonna promote both as NCT and Super M. Don't get me wrong, I love these two but urghh why is SM so obsessed with them?

Yeah I agree, and I'm tired hearing his voice in THE MAJORITY of their tracks. Like, I get it, you're talented but come on. If I were SM if would've put Jaehyun instead of Mark, he speaks English perfectly fine as well. As for Taeyong, I mean I would've loved someone else instead of him just to give the others some spotlight but at the same time, since they're focusing on the American market, Taeyong is definitely the magnet that's gonna grab people's attention - him, Kai & Lucas.
His schedule must be really tight though, he'll be promoting with Super M first, then a couple months later he's gonna perform again with NCT 127 at the Global Citizen thing, and he's the leader. Whew. Again, BLACKPINK wishes.

I agree, they could have pushed some other members in the front. I guess they want to maximize the fanbase, so they picked the most popular among their boy groups. I am honestly more excited to see Taemin and Ten together in this one than the rest. Anyway, the name makes me either think of Super Junior-M or sperm!
Their logo emphasizes it even more, with the red underline.
I can't unsee it.

I actually thought the same. And they need to put a space between Super and M. If you're a non K-Pop fan seeing this logo somewhere, big chance you're gonna pronounce them as "Superm" - and I guess if you're a native speaker and say the word quite fast it's gonna sound like... well..I also don't like the fact that the name sounds to brag-ish & ambitious. But well, good luck to them!
Also, that photo is definitely photoshopped, don't you guys think so? I mean, why does Lucas look like he's floating? His styling is awful as well, Taeyong looks lost and not a fan of Baek's hairstyle.
