[Survivor] Parody Survivor - Round 16

We're coming near the end of our survivor of Novelty Songs, and now it's time to focus in on a type of song that is frequently but not always a novelty song - the Parody Song. When I was suggesting songs for cheapthrills' Novelty Songs survivor I deliberately avoided parodies unless absolutely essential.

I'm not sure there is a cast iron definition of what is a parody and what isn't, but I've included some acts/songs that I naturally consider to be parodies, plus some that have come up on online lists of parody songs/acts. In general, they come in one of a few styles:

• Songs which take the tune of an existing song and put new words to it, which may or may not bear some similarity to the existing song. (e.g. most Weird Al Yankovic stuff)
• Covers of existing songs in a wildly different style, which are not necessarily meant to be taken seriously. (e.g. Mike Flowers Pops version of "Wonderwall")
• Songs which are parodies of the style of a particular artist or genre of music, exaggerating that style to the extreme (e.g. Geraldine McQueen's "The Winner's Song")

The list of songs will ultimately be a list of 100 songs, and some of the more essential novelty acts will have multiple songs. No act has more than 5 songs (hence I need to do this survivor this year before Ladbaby have six Christmas No. 1 novelty songs to consider!)

So far, I've picked out 94 songs - so there's space for a further 6 songs, if people can give me suggestions. If we get less than 6 suggestions then people like Weird Al Yankovic and Marsh Family might get a sixth song. If we get more than 6 suggestions, then some acts will lose songs. Three acts definitely won't lose songs - Weird Al Yankovic (because he's a legend), the Marsh Family (because it was a suggestion of doing a survivor on them that resulted in this survivor) and LadBaby (because like it or not, they have five Christmas No. 1s).

Also, do feel free to make suggestions of changed songs - though there are some where the songs picked are deliberate - I've tended to go for the biggest songs on YouTube or Last.fm, or in the UK Charts (in the Barron Knights' case). For Weird Al, I went for his five biggest songs in his artist survivor not to have made a Survivor of Survivors.

Go on, let's add in the first two of those, plus the three others you mentioned. This now of course means there are three entries both for Bill Oddie (counting in his solo Joe Cocker parody) and for the members of HeeBeeGeeBees who are not Angus Deayton - which it turns out are also the voices behind the Chicken Song!

Also adding in "Go Compare" by Wynne Evans. That gets us to 100, so if we add any more, we'll start losing some of the excessive number of Chris Moyles, Rutles and Bart Baker songs to get them down to three each.

Can we swap one of the Chris Moyles ones for 'The Ballad of Tesco'? My other fave of his was 'The Man Who Would Kill For Chips' to the tune of Begin Again by Space, but I can't find that one on YouTube.

My fave choice for Flight of the Conchords would personally be 'You Don't Have To Be A Prostitute', as a parody in the style of Roxanne by The Police.

It would also be great to have at least one of the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend parodies. Maybe 'Trapped In A Car With Someone You Don't Want To Be Trapped In A Car With' (Beach Boys style parody) or 'Let's Have Intercourse' (in the style of Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran).

Flight of the Conchords - I still find them in general rather borderline, so let's add Chantal's suggestion and boot out the one FotC song we had originally, so we just have the two suggestions.
Chris Moyles - fine to include The Ballad of Tesco - didn't realise he'd done not one but two Space parodies!
Subwoolfer - It's a bit short, and I'm not sure it would ever have been a single, but it's a blatent Dolly Parton parody, so let's put it in.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend I'd never heard of before, but both of those parodies are definitely good enough to include - particularly the "Fun Fun Fun" parody!
Finally, how could we possibly miss No Way Sis? Definitely need to go in - as essential to the 90s as the Rutles are to the 60s arguably - if only for one song.

So - a LOAD of acts get trimmed!

First up - as I said, we lose "Inner City Pressure" for Flight of the Conchords - they're sufficiently borderline parody that I don't particularly want more than 2 for them.
Then, with "The Ballad of Tesco" going in, I'm going to cull both "Beer In My Arms" AND "I Predict A Diet".
We can lose one of the Bob Rivers tracks - I'd say "Walkin' Round In Women's Underwear".
We can lose one of the Lounge Kittens tracks - I'd say "Party Hard"
and much as it pains me to do it, I think for an act not known for their parodies in general, three from Flanders and Swann is a bit excessive. Therefore, I present one of the shortest songs on the original shortlist - the "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik Cha Cha Cha".
