I'm not pretending to cover the entire scope of women in rap with this survivor, but I'm hoping it gets a lot of the highlights over the years. The last two years have been a renaissance of sorts for women in rap as numerous emcees gain recognition critically and commercially. There have been a record number denting the Billboard charts as well.

With four female rappers topping Billboard this year (five if we want to count Bey), I assumed there would be some sort of Billboard list of the most successful songs by female rappers of all time - there is a top 25 list back in the dark ages, when Cardi B was rising with Bodak Yellow, but it's an unsatisfying list in that two acts make up 40% of the list, and it's dated without the influx of new rappers.

Without an updated list from Billboard, I found this list from XXL. This list is from earlier this year. So between the two lists I came up with the below, giving no more than two lead spots to any one woman.

You are free to add up to four songs of your own (they can be from women who are already represented twice) to the list before we get started. If you think I left anything off these lists, feel free to include them in your suggestions. Once the system is up and running, I will go ahead and tag people who might be interested, but in the meantime, there's time to listen to the songs you don't know!
