LEO: Pretty enjoybale and catchy 4.5
JSPARKSFAN: Infectious! This was rather simple, but oh so fun and whimsical. 5.5
WAYNE: very interesting song with brilliant instruments, and what a video! Haven't heard this before, but would listen again as I still don't think I quite understand the message. I award the song 4.5 points.

Daryl Braithwaite - The Horses [Affillate]
LEO: Ok song, kinda boring 3.5
JSPARKSFAN: There wasn't anything particularly special about this, but it was enjoyable all the same. Simple but effective. 4.5
WAYNE: a bit painting by numbers, it was alright and matched the theme perfectly well. I award the song 3.5 points.

Kacey Musgraves - High Horse [Thriller]
LEO: One ofher best imo, nice lyrics and great rhythm 5.5
JSPARKSFAN: A clever way to tie in the theme, though, conversely, also a super safe choice. No penalty points from me, though. This is a bop. 5
WAYNE: it's very poppy and quite typical of what I expected to hear as soon as I saw the title but harmless and pretty nice. I award the song 3.5 points.

Katie Melua - Spider's Web [Spartan]
LEO: Sweet, Katies' style is beautiful 5
JSPARKSFAN: Interesting lyrics. I liked its slow build structure. 4.5
WAYNE: delighted to hear this again, I first discovered this in her Artist Survivor a couple of years ago. It's a phenomenal song by an artist who is criminally underrated. Really clever lyrics with a very simple and straightforward message: the line between right and wrong is as delicate, fragile and/or fine as the thread on a spider's web. I award the song 6.0 points.

Mumford and Sons - Little Lion Man [trebor]
LEO: love the chords 5.5
JSPARKSFAN: Good folk-rock bop. 4
WAYNE: I loved this, really good song and my favourite wild animal. I award the song 5.0 points.

The Maccabees - Pelican [navi]
LEO: Song of the round, not the best but a discovery for me 6
JSPARKSFAN: Unmemorable for me, but not terrible. 4
WAYNE: their sound takes me back to the late 00s, this was a brilliant listen. Plaudits for creative animal selection as well. I award the song 5.0 points.

ROUND 10 - BREAK UPS

We've had a couple of teen success stories dominating the charts in the last couple years, from the Likes of Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and The Kid LAROI, what do they all have in common? That's right, some good ol' Fashioned songs working through relationship drama. Some Break Up anthems can be angry, sad, or even happier for moving on. Thus Round 10's Theme will be focused around Songs with a Break Up theme. Featured clip to one of many TED Talk videos on tools that may help getting over a break up.
