So - all our top 3 acts had to feature in the preliminary round. They landed at 5, 6 and 35, and actually the one that landed at No. 5 is the first of the three to be out - meaning none of the top 3 in the preliminary rounds made it into the actual top 3. Those three were two of our knockout stage members Zutons and Cast, and the Wombats - who crashed out at No. 47 - how ironic! Anyway, to celebrate the irony of the Wombats crashing out at No. 47 when on paper they should have gone top 3, let's dance to Joy Division! It's the earliest song in the top 10 by some margin, with everyone else being from between 1989 and 1997. However, this rock classic has made a very impressive position in our top 3 songs of the North West.
