In the spring earlier this year, we participated in the Whitney Houston survivor and cumulatively made a decision to siphon off Whitney's Christmas album from the rest of her songs and save them for the holiday season. And now that time is here!

Let's make the holidays a little merrier with the below tracks. I'll start the survivor on Thursday, so this gives you some time to check the songs out ahead of that. I've started the yule log for most of these, so you can grab some hot chocolate and a blanket and enjoy the album!

I'll start this when Bey's survivor ends, but it's snowing here right now, and I actually do have some salted caramel hot chocolate and listening to Whitney's album right now is literally living my best life, so I had to kick this off.

Merry Christmas! It's hard to believe Whitney's Christmas album is nearly 20 years old. This would be her penultimate last album, and we'd have to we'd have to wait nearly six years before we'd get the final one. Having listened to it yesterday, she's got a terrific voice for Christmas. Even her speaking voice is just like a warm hug

In any case, as you get started, you can also enjoy this hosting gig that Whitney and her mother Cissy did at Christmastime in the 1980s for VH1. I had no idea this existed, but it's just so pure

OK, I wasn't expecting a huge turnout, but I thought it would be more than just the four of us! But that's enough to keep going!

We'll lose the bottom two songs from the last round. First up, is surprisingly, the only single from the album and title track, One Wish. It's probably the least known song in this album of holiday standards. Perhaps that's why it was chosen as a single, but here, it finished dead last. We also lose The Little Drummer Boy, which in any version is probably up there as one of my least favorite Christmas songs.

ROUND 2 RESULTS

I thought the back half of this album was the stronger set, but I thindeadk we've made pretty good choices by eliminating these songs. First up, Whitney's Do You Hear What I Hear was actually recorded in 1987 and put on A Very Special Christmas, which featured other famous acts of the day liek Madonna and Bruce Springsteen. For a deluxe edition of the One Wish album, Pentatonix chose to add their voices over thirty years later. It's a weird an entirely unnecessary change, and they were probably just hoping to capitalize on the Higher Love success earlier that year. It finishes in 13th place.

But one song we hated even more than that is O Come O Come Emmanuel - this is a beautiful song, but perhaps has too many odd flourishes to be a perfect listen and it finishes in last place.
