  • Round 10 Scores

    1. Tom Jones & the Cardigans - Burning down the house (THRILLER)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYuldgIOelY

Cheapthrills: The music for this is really fun, but I’m not sure Tom Jones should do duets. His voice is iconic and I don’t feel like The Cardigans add much here – maybe it’s like Maluma being brought in to make Madonna relevant?
    Score: 6.5

Gagarazzi: I love this cover! I laughed when I saw this was one of the picks given that it's a huge guilty pleasure for my brother and I. A very interesting take on the original and surprising mixture of sound from the two very different artists. I don't know how it works, it just does.
    Score: 9

Jsparskfan: Oh, this was funky and fun! It's a delightfully random collab that totally works.
    Score: 9

Leomedar: So good to run across this again! Nina's voice is magical. His attutide is sublime. Amazing choice.
    Score: 9,5

    2. Billt Preston and Syreeta (Wright) - With you i'm born again (TREBOR)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IbGMqg1pkw

Cheapthrills: Wow, this is going old school! I watched the Motown 60 special and that was the first time I ever heard of Syreeta. Her voice is so velvety. This is more of what I think of when I hear the word duet.
    Score 8.5

Gagarazzi: Sorry, but this really isn't for me. I found it incredibly boring.
    Score: 2

Jsparskfan: Romantic and beautiful. I really appreciated this.
    Score: 8

Leomedar: Very good song. Their voices merge beautifully. The song was a little boring at points, but still a great choice
    Score: 8,5

    3. James Blake - Barefoot in the park (feat. Rosalia) (FLOPHO)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lnvobi3ctsE

Cheapthrills: I love how each of these songs are from different eras. Rosalia sounds amazing here – there’s kind of Arabic-Spanish vibe to her voice and James Blake as counterpoint works here.
    Score: 9

Gagarazzi: I loved this! Such an interesting sound. I love bilingual songs.
    Score: 8

Jsparskfan: Interesting. This one definitely warrants a replay. I like that it has a distinctive production.
    Score: 7,5

Leomedar: I'm on the process of falling in love with this song. Rosalia is so addictive. Amazing choice, and their voices and styles blend beautifully.
    Score: 10

This round was a though one, as only two get through to the final! Flopho is still in the lead, also gaining the most points this round. Thriller follows him with just a half point less, we're up for a neck-to-neck final where anything is possible! Sadly we have to say goodbye to Trebor, who came realy far! I realy hoped you enjoyed it!

    • Round 11: How do i keep you from leaving?

This round i want the last two collectors to each send me two songs. Since this is the last round the first song has to do with saying goodbye, and leaving. The second song is one that you can decide for yourself! Maybe your latest discovery, or a song that the judges deffinitely need to hear! Goodluck, and may the best collector win! ;-)

      Deadline: Tuesday
      @Thriller @flopho

                            • The Final Scores

                              1. White Lies - Farewell to the fairground (THRILLER)
                              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlmSqyMT0FQ

Cheapthrills: This sounds like it would have fit right in with 80s pop radio. That sentimental vibe plays well with the lyrics of the song. I especially like the melodic portion near the end of the song.
                              Score: 8

Leo: Good song, a welcomed sound. Liked the title and concept of the song.
                              Score: 8

Gagarazzi: Wow! What a flashback! I knew this only as a live cover performed by La Roux which I enjoyed about 10 years ago. Great to find the original!
                              Score: 8

Jsparskfan: Lovely instrumentation! It's a well-rounded track. I'd certainly play this again.
                              Score: 8,5

                              2. Kate Miller hedike - The last day on earth (FLOPHO)
                              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhQ5seprs6s

Cheapthrills: Looks like 2009 was the year of choice for both of you! If glass could sing, I imagine it would sound just like Kate – fragile, high, and bright, she sounds like she’s ready to fall apart with every note. Don’t care for the change in tone in the last thirty seconds.
                              Score 7.5

Leo: I discovered Kate in a game I ran years ago, The Artist League. In fact, she won one of the editions! Nice artist, but in the comparisson I prefer White Lies in this match, but it was a tough one so only 2 point gap for me.
                              Score: 7

Gagarazzi: Love Kate and this is my favourite song of her. Probably the most unpredictable hit of the 00s.
                              Score: 9

                              Jsparskfan: Uneventful
                              Score: 6,5

                              Theme 2

                              3. Miguel - Tod you so (FLOPHO)
                              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnhlTS8RgUM

Cheapthrills: Anyhow, wow Miguel – we need some new music form this guy! He definitely fills a gap in music that’s missing. The voice is perfect as always; I’m not sure about the music though – there’s kind of a crunchy Styrofoam sound in some parts of the background that is distracting.
                              Score 8.5

Leo: Great entry, love this song, makes me dance and the chorus is perfect because it is so simple and common but effective!
                              Score: 7,5

Gagarazzi: Not usually the biggest fan of this genre, but I liked this.
                              Score: 7

Jsparksfan: Not bad, but it didn't wow me
                              Score: 7

                              4. Independent lovesong – Scarlet (THRILLER)
                              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElkqPNvMj6w

Cheapthrills: Oh wow, this song didn’t seem promising at first, but the strings-laden vocal eruption at the chorus and the minor-chords of the bridge are both epic.
                              Score: 10

Leo: wow, loved the 90s sound here. The song is fine vut then so 90s that wins some extra points from me!
                              Score: 9,5

Gagarazzi: The kind of thing I'd usually be into, but this didn't really do much for me.
                              Score: 5

Jsparksfan: I love swelling choruses. Gorgeous vocals on this track!
                              Score: 9

We have a winner! Thank you all for participating, and i hope you all had fun! Thank you to our judges!

Congratulations Thriller on winning! Well deserved! It was a though race as before the final anything could happen with only half a point difference, so it realy came down this this last round. Also Flopho did extremely well with his second place! Great work both of you!

As for myself i enjoyed hosting this, and i'm glad i haven't made any big mistakes and haven't miscounted which is a miracle as i suck at math
Anyways thank you for this nice journey, and i hoped you guys liked it!
