Someone likes Boring Lana a lot. just kidding… I imagine that people drawn to the singer/songwriter genre will tend to like Banisters & Chemtrails a lot.

They really do. Chemtrails didn’t do it for me but I find myself drawn back to Blue Bannisters even though it hasn’t fully connected with me yet

Same here. The only album that didnt have that impact was Chemtrails and I thought the same would happen with BB but keep on going back

          • I like Chemtrails a lot more than this, especially the not-so-obvious songs.

Totally. In my case, I struggle to find those aforementioned melodies on singer-songwriter dominant records as compared to her more beat-heavy records.

                • Did this album make anyone else go back and re-visit Honeymoon? God I slept on that excellent album.

It does have some similarities with how “hazy” and lush it sounds in places.

HM is still my least fave, idk why I just cannot get into half of it. I do appreciate its aesthetic and cinematic vibe.

                    • 'Honeymoon' has got some nice ideas but sounds underproduced in parts to me. I always imagined how great 'Music to Watch Boys to' would've sounded with a more 'Born to Die'-like production.

                      • The interlude The Trio is by far the best thing on this album

                        • I prefer Blue Banisters to Chemtrails. These two albums are awesome, not my personal favorite by her though.

my ranking would look like this:

                          1. Ultraviolence
                          2. Honeymoon
                          3. NFR!

                          4. Blue Banisters
                          5. Chemtrails Over The Country Club

                          6. Lust For Life

                          7. Born To Die
                          8. Paradise

                            • She never has a bad album but this is nowhere near chemtrails for me. I do adore BB, Arcadia, If you lie down with me and a few others though.
Britney, X-tina, Lana, Janet, Spice Girls, Kylie, Dannii

                                  2. Chemtrails Over The Country Club
                                  3. Blue Bannisters

                                  • Love all her other albums, but still haven't played this because the title track and Arcadia bored me to death.

Are they representative of the whole thing or just bad single choices?

Arcadia and Blue Banisters are beautiful but go off

On the album you’ll find songs that are reminiscent of her other albums like Ultraviolence and Honeymoon.

I’d suggest you listen to the following songs to get an idea of the overall sound of the album:
Violets for Roses, Thunder, Dealer, Black Bathing Suit, Blue Banisters, Nectar of the Gods.

                                              • As I wrote in the Chemtrails thread, I'm digesting Blue Banisters for the first time now. A lot of piano ballads on this one, but they're beautiful. 'Dealer' has stuck out to me because it's so different to the rest of the music. Her vocals sound clearer than they usually do on this album, and it's noticeable to me for that. I think that there's often a lot of reverb and vocal layering used on her music (to great effect) to aid the production of the songs; since this might be her most stripped back album, the vocals stand out more.
