I don't really understand the postponement. I don't think it's gonna make a huge difference in terms of sales.

I am however very much looking forward to it.

He said he needed a break and to spend more time with his family.

The EU tour ends today in Madrid and then he was supposed to start the promo for the album + he has 2 London shows at the end of the month.

I am not really sure releasing in early December would help his chances chartwise.

Already the second postponement for the album and early December is literally the worst possible release date. Poor him. Should've waited for early 2023 then.

Not really he can take of the Christmas sales!

I feel like Christmas is too crowded for him to make a good dent. I agree waiting until 2023 would be perfect. Even line it up to be around Eurovision.

Waiting until Eurovision 2023 would be extremely late, the focus would be on the UK entry in 2023, not Sam.

I do agree that December will be too crowded for him, I really hope he can make it into the top 5 or at least top 10. January or November would've been better.

He will likely be performing at Eurovision. Which would for sure help sell a few copies

I mean it's the "curse" most Eurovision artists face. Have at least a follow-up single ready in case your entry is a smash at Eurovision + then go immediately into studios for the album in case you are really successful at the contest. Sometimes I wonder why some people take so much time and then they flop to no ones surprise.

Anyways, I feel like Sam can have a decent career in the UK so let's see how this will do.

True but we don't know how much time they will give him considering he wasn't the winner. Still, the show will have maaany artists and the focus won't be on Sam.

If he performs at Eurovision (it's almost certain), his album might experience a nice boost but releasing it then wouldn't help as the hype would be gone already. His team has done good so far promoting him (he's got a lot of press with the Platinum Jubilee performance, he was named one of the ambassadors for National Album day, did festivals during the summer, performed with Queen and did radio shows, gave a lot of TV interviews and got 2 singles out after Eurovision)

He just finished his EU tour, has 2 London shows left and then some intimate shows to promote the new album. Releasing the album this year before the full UK tour is the best idea, it's just that December might not be the best month for a new artist like him. As a said, November and January were better options.

You are right. The management of many major ESC associates is quite poor most of the time.

I think the momentum won't be on Sam's side, but hopefully the Eurovision appearance next year may ensure some sort of resurgence later on.

Haha some of these comments are ridiculous Sam’s album will be absolutely fine. He‘s didn’t roll into Eurovision as a complete nobody and his pre-orders for physical CDs, Vinyls and Cassettes are in well into the thousands. He never expected to have this amount of success.

The Christmas period affects singles a lot more than albums because artists don’t have singles on pre-order for months. January-March is stacked for albums with big artists like Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, Ava Max, Tom Grennan, Ed Sheeran, etc.

Regarding Eurovision I would expect the collaboration with Kalush Orchestra it might surprise you that they are friends. I sincerely hope they will meet up at the Europe Music Awards on Sunday.

I would be more concerned about artists like Rosa Linn who is recording an album for release in 2023 (great) but she’s still quite unknown as an artist. Her label need to organise a small tour while SNAP is still hot.

He’s performing on The Royal Variety show in December. I predict he will perform on Strictly Come Dancing as one of his Eurovision mates is in charge of the show.

He doesn’t have much chart competition album-wise. Sam Fender is releasing a bonus version of Seventeen Going Under on that date but that’s it. Dermot Kennedy (maybe), Stormzy (100%) and Olly Murs (unbelievably) are the only other artists likely to sell big numbers before Christmas.

I don't feel like the comments are ridiculous. We are all fans of Sam. We all want him to succeed. We've rooted for him as soon as we heard space man.

I love his ep. I know I'll love the album. I just really want it to be a success for him. You've also got to take into cosndierstion Christmas albums plus big albums throughout the year that get purchased as gifts. It's still a crowded market.

I would love a Strictly performance. I would assume it was a given, as well as maybe a late addition to children in need if he has time to record something.

Last year Ed Sheeran released = in October 2021 and Adele released 30 in late November 2021 and they dominated the album chart for months but the year before that it was normal. The Q4 release schedule is pretty dead until 2023. Artists dropping 3-6 months of pre-order sales on 1 day far outweighs casual buying over the festive period. Historically it doesn’t affect the album chart that much which combines physical sales with streaming and labels like to throw in cassettes for new albums as they count as an extra sales unit. Sam has a lot of pre-orders so he will be fine.

He will do fine in the physical sales chart [his team is doing everything to keep the pre-orders high by adding them as bundle with tickets to his intimate shows] but i am not sure about the Albums chart when streaming is also considered. Somebody did not make an impact, unfortunately.

The pessimism is unreal. Lots of artists have made significant dents in the album chart with a majority of physical sales and iTunes downloads. That’s why 80% albums don’t hang around long. The problem is when artists only release single format which he isn’t. The issue I have with Sam is he announces something then stops promoting it 5 minutes later which didn’t happen with his EP or Space Man.

If I was Sam’s manager I would be out there with a cheerful glam-rock Christmas banger in the style of Wizzard and Slade. I’ve seen him in BBABH and CYE and he could completely pull that off.
