Yes, I was getting some strong "plastic hearts" song vibes which is possibly the avenue she could have gone down a few years ago but didn't. It sounds instantly catchy which is the problem a few of her latest singles struggled with.

Maybe if you stop looking comparisons you will actually enjoy the song. The fact that someone does retro pop doesn’t mean the copy The Weeknd … no one is copying when it comes to rnb or dance, but once it’s retro pop it must be copy of The Weeknd

This sounds so much fun! I hope this does something for her, she deserves another hit. I feel like going a R&B-ish route with Ruin My Life really ruined her life back then, she should've taken the full Pop route already then.
