    Thanks for your explanation!

But for me personally that line was always about heading into some higher place of being. She calls for getting unconscious throughout the song. And in that new place everything is different and all that you've experienced before doesn't matter as it's a new place of being where different rules apply. And she's so serious about going there and never coming back that this is the last time "she explains" this because once there she won't need to explain it anymore or even be able as she's leaving her bodily form and this world where you need to express yourself through explaining/talking to other people (the opening lines "Today is the last day that I'm using words." confirm that to me).

There doesn't have to be a proper explanation as the song was envisioned as being "illogical", dreamlike and surreal. Kind of like the dream where you understand the main plot but when you go deeper it's all very loose and your brain connects some things that didn't happen with the people you've dreamed of but others etc.

    Bjork's words:

“I think at the time, yes. But that’s like six years ago, when everything about [Madonna] seemed very controlled. I think she’s a very intuitive person, and definitely her survival instincts are incredible. They’re like, outrageous. At the time, the words I thought she should say were, ‘I’m not using words anymore, let’s get unconscious honey. F*ck logic. Just be intuitive. Be more free. Go with the flow.’ Right now, she seems pretty much to be going with the flow.”

I always interpreted it like this:

And all that you'll ever learn, try to forget: live with your heart, not with your mind.
I'll never explain again: I won't explain another time to live with your heart, not with your mind

But you never know with Björk.

Did the Björk version ever leak? I believe the original lyrics are “let’s get unconscious on E”.

One of her best videos ever.

Also one of her best songs ever.

Loved when it was released on single and you had to buy two cd-singles to make the book complete. Such a great idea.

My favourite video of hers alongside Bad Girl. The song itself is one of my favourite Madonna singles. It doesn't have much radio or commercial appeal, but its quality warrants it to have been a much bigger hit than it unfortunately was.

Wish her VEVO had all her music videos in better quality. The Warner video account is poor in quality. :-? :-?

I also bloody love the Bedtime Story video. What's this about it being filmed in Turkey?

I did not know the song for so long cause I don't think I heard it here in my childhood in Germany in opposite to Secret, Take a bow and Human Nature
That's why it's at the MOMA in NYC; good eye!

TRIVIA: This was the first Madonna single after 33 consecutive singles spanning a period of 12 years which failed to crack the Billboard Top 40. Strangely, it was the follow-up to her biggest Billboard hit ever (Take A Bow). Even more weirdly, "Bedtime Story" was the highest peaking UK single from the "Bedtime Stories" album (#4 although it dropped like a rock), bringing her back in the Top 10 after "Take A Bow" stopped a series of 35 consecutive UK Top 10 hits spanning a period of 11 years
In the UK it was released the week she performed at the Brits, that's why it debut so high at #4.
The video wasn't even out yet, but her team did a good job releasing it the week she performed it.
Freddy DeMann knew how to do his job.

This is the thread of the single "Bedtime Story" not the album "Bedtime Stories".

But yeah, all, this single ("Bedtime Story"), "Secret", "Take a bow" and "Human Nature" are on the same album.

    My favorite lyrics are:

    Words are useless
    Especially sentences
    They don't stand for anything
How could they explain how I feel
