Another thing, People are mad at her for singing about sex. What's wrong with singing about sex....?SEx is good. Also, there's a parental advisory sticker on the album. Keep the kiddies away...

Yes, but every song seems to be about sex, it gets tedious, one dimensional and shallow.
I'll be the bitch tonight (I'll show you bitch - bitch!)

It may not be doing so well in UK but its huge in America... Isn't it her biggest first week sales of an album?

It's doing okay in the U.S. People were expecting it to do better. But it seems like it's Usher's year on the album charts.....

Elephant Man teams with Janet Jackson on All Night
                        Kevin Jackson, Observer writer
                        Wednesday, April 28, 2004

                        Elephant Man
With sales of her latest album Damita Jo not doing as well as was expected, Janet Jackson has decided to spice thing up a bit in her bid to capture the urban market. The result is an urban remix of her upcoming single, All Night, done in tandem with Elephant Man.

Willie Daniels, A&R at VP Records in New York who has responsibility for Elephant Man, Tanto Metro and Devonte, Lady Saw and Lexxus among others, told the Observer yesterday that the remix was done on Monday just five days after he was contacted by representatives at Virgin Records (Jackson's record label).

"I got a call from representatives at Virgin Records last Wednesday, and they said that Janet requested that Elephant Man be featured on the track. It was recorded on Monday at the Hit Factory in New York City, with Jermaine Dupri handling the production," Daniels explained.
                        Janet Jackson
Daniels said that Jackson's label had considered an urban remix of the track, based on the fact that there was already a pop mix, and they didn't want to ignore the urban market.
Jackson's album Damita Jo debuted at number two on the Billboard album chart a few weeks ago. In its first week of release, the disc sold more than 350,000 copies in the US.
To date it has reportedly sold more than 500,000 copies. The first single I Want You hasn't been doing well on urban radio and has been struggling up the charts.

Daniels explained that the remix could do well for Jackson in the urban market, due to the fact that Elephant Man is currently enjoying some attention in the urban marketplace.
Elephant's latest single Jook Gal was number 61 on the R&B chart up to two weeks ago. It is currently number 95 in its second week on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

"It's going to help both of them. It will no doubt open Elephant Man to the pop audience. The label is also looking at a music video for the song, and there is the possibility that Elephant Man will be performing with her at the BET awards in June," Daniels said Elephant Man is no stranger to remixes with American recording artistes. He was featured on a remix of a Mariah Carey song last year. Late last year he also teamed with Lil' Jon and the Eastside Boyz, Ying Yang Twins and Busta Rhymes for a remix of Get Low.

                                        *Bump*

I've went back to listening the this album lately and I'm sorry but it just didn't get the justice it deserves. This album is full of brilliant tunes and despite the fact it centres around sex, who cares. Every album has to centre around something and there's a lot to say about it lol. I just cant see how so many good songs could go unnoticed:

                                        Damita Jo - Good
                                        Sexhibition - V. Good
                                        Strawberry Bounce - Good
                                        My Baby - V. Good
Spending Time With You - Good
                                        Island Life - V. Good
All Nite - BRILLIANT (shoulda been a smash hit)
                                        R&B Junkie - Good
                                        I Want You - V. Good
Like You Don't Love Me - V. Good
Thinkin' Bout My Ex - BRILLIANT
                                        Warmth - V. Good
                                        Moist - BRILLIANT
                                        Truly - V. Good
                                        Slolove - Good
                                        Just A Little While - V. Good

I can actually listen to the full album without skipping anything. It was All Nite that got me really into JJ and since Damita Jo I've got 20 Y.O. and janet.. I'm gonna build them up til I have them all but Damita Jo is truly underrated.

I always thought "Damita Jo" was very under-rated too. It didn't really offer anything ground-breaking, but it was one her most solid sets IMO.

It's actually my second fave Janet album after "The Velvet Rope".
