This album is so refreshing when compared to all the electro stuff being filtered into practically everything 'R&B' album of late . I need to listen to it a few more times before any track really stands out because it is so long it can be a bit difficult to take everything in initionally

I think Suite II is fantastic, Suite III I'm not so sure about. I'm finding it a bit long wihen you put the two together; I wish maybe she's released each suite separately instead of together.

I'm not hearing a strong story throughout yet, maybe I need to just listen through the whole thing. I like the references to the story/previous songs in the titles though (Sir Greendown, 57821, Neon Valley Street, etc.) and it took me a while of wondering why Neon Gumbo sounded so familiar befoe I realised it's Violet Stars Happy Hunting played backwards

Oh and I'm so happy about Locked Inside, I heard her perform it live a couple of years ago and wondered hoped she might release it someday. it was different then though, she did a rap in the middle.

Still disappointed with this, but I think it's because her debut EP gave me such massive expectations. Most of it just seems to lack the energy and creativity that made her so unique in the first place. I would probably be fine with it if they released it as an 8 track EP and cut the filler.

I'd have preferred something like this:

          1. Suite II Overture
          2. Dance Or Die
          3. Cold War
          4. Tightrope
          5. Oh, Maker
          6. Come Alive
          7. Neon Valley Street
          8. Make The Bus
          9. Wondaland

I love when the drums kick in during the first verse of Oh, Maker.

This album is really something else, I gotta say. I wasn't expecting to like it this much, but of course there are a couple of questionable songs, haha. I love how each track flows into the next - it's such a good listening experience overall. I would have excluded Come Alive & Mushrooms And Roses, as well as Neon Gumbo and Sir Greendown (interludes that don't really contribute much). Apart from that, I absolutely love the album - especially Neon Valley Street, Cold War, Tightrope, Dance Or Die, Oh Maker, Faster and Locked Inside.

I saw her album art and thought it was interesting. Had a listen to Tightrope, thought it was average. But Cold War blew me away.

How do you mean, you can't get there?

It's a simple little ditty, which is kinda haunting and sounds initially like a missing song from 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' LOL! She gets all passionate thereafter though with a gentle beat and it's pure bliss!

'Make the bus' is SO Prince - I adore it!

Musically and vocally, this album is amazing. Singers & producers did a really standout work !
No Guettas, No Timbos, No Polows just funky music.
That brings some fresh air in the R&B and in the music.

This album is brilliant. It's like a less gritty and more sophisticated version of The Love Below and Janelle is like the love child of Andre 3000, Stevie Wonder, Prince and James Brown. I love how she genre hops but yet still making the album cohesive. And you can actually visualize the concept of the album through the music and the lyrics, she doesnt need to wear outrageous outfits to convey her vision. Definitely one of the strongest "debut" album in a long time. And that Letterman performance, wow this chick bad! Really brilliant!
