I've grown to love this album, it's the one that really represented how she feels. It's not something that was meant to create hits (it sounds like an excuse but nothing here aside from "Boy" sounded like it would chart in the Hot 100 at the time). This sounded as organic as Butterfly, too bad the fans didn't like her singing style in some songs, and the general public snubbed her in favor of other mainstream R&B acts.Comment

While her vocal performance in the entire album is an acquired taste (which I've grown accustomed to btw) it was really her pen-game that saved the album.
She's always been a fantastic songwriter, but IMO her pen-game was at its peak during the making of CB.
