Lady Gaga’s Fast-Selling Chromatica Ball World Tour Tops $80M Gross


The trek was rescheduled from 2020 dates with 14 more shows, many of which are at or near sell-outs.

Lady Gaga has sold out 90% of her Chromatica Ball tour and is on track to gross an impressive $4 million per show in the U.S., according to ticket sales reports viewed by Billboard. The successful sales report is welcome news in the concert business, showing the resilience of iconic acts during periods of consumer uncertainty and high oil prices — 14 of the tours 20 shows went on sale in March and have sold quickly.

First announced on March 5, 2020, the Chromatic Ball tour named after Gaga’s sixth studio album, Chromatica, was originally a six-date run that expanded to 17 dates when new shows were added the original routing in March. Last month, three more east coast dates were added, including an Aug. 26 stop in Atlanta and Aug. 28 in Hershey, Penn.

So far, the tour has generated over $80 million in gross ticket sales with many markets here and overseas sold out, according to sales data viewed by Billboard, including Dusseldorf, London, Japan and Boston. Paris, Stockholm, Arnhem, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago and New York are all well positioned for a strong final sales push.

“Europe is over 88% sold with 70,000 tickets sold in Paris, 76,000 in London and opener in Düsseldorf, Germany completely sold out,” says Arthur Fogel, president of global touring and chairman for concerts at Live Nation. “Toronto is sold out, New York is basically sold out, Wrigley Field is sold out. Tokyo’s two shows at the Tokyo Dome are sold out — it’s amazing.”

Fogel says his only disappointment so far is “that we don’t have more time to add more shows,” based on Lady Gaga’s busy schedule in 2022. In April, Gaga staged nine performances of her Jazz & Piano residency at the Park MGM hotel and casino in Las Vegas. The Chromatica Ball launches July 17 in Düsseldorf and ends Sept . 17 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

They’re lowballing for sure. Paris is way more than that. And not talking about London number being way too low for two shows.

US shows will gross way more than 4M average. She did more with the Joanne Tour and the prices were a lot lower.

Yes, I think they’re being too cautious with those numbers. I’m sure she can surpass the $100 million mark with 20 dates.

They are not lowballing. Those are official numbers from Live Nation. The tour is still on sale and starts in a month in Europe and in 2 months in NA, so it's not like it will gross $80M. Billboard always round numbers, so it can be around $81-83M ($48-50M NA, $22.5-24M Europe and $10-11M in Japan).

They said that it will gross over $4M in NA because she already has $4M per night, based on current sales. So it will increase as long as more tickets are being sold.

There are still a lot of tickets left for shows like Houston, Miami, Atlanta, Arlington, Arnhem and others like Hershey and San Francisco and about $12-15M in unsold tickets for these cities. I'm still not sure about $100M total, especially after this article, but $5M average in NA is definitely possible. And I knew that this stadium in London was smaller than Wembley, Olympic Stadium, Emirates and Twickenham so I'm not suprised with 38K per night.

To me the average for US shows will be way more than 5M. The prices are just insane. She can't have the same average as Joanne Tour that had way cheaper tickets, it's just impossible.

Platinum tickets are not part of the price range mentioned in boxscores, so these prices are not accurate to anyone here. The grosses at MetLife and Dodgers will sure be big and pass $5-6M but using the two best grosses as a parameter for the whole leg is not smart.

The Joanne Tour average at stadiums was $4.5M from 36.5K tickets (including $5M in one venue only), so $500-700K more is already a big improvement considering she will return to the same stadiums + others with the same capacity or less.

She just passed $4M average in the US at 12 venues, that alone matches with we are talking about.

Hold My Hand won't be the closing song of the show. That would be a terrible choice. Babylon would be a perfect closer, or alternatively Rain On Me.
Oh and I hope that's not the final setlist. Sine From Above is definitely missing. I thought that song would've been on on setlist for sure. Especially with it being featured in commercials and all. And I'm also kind of missing Enigma. I'm hoping she adds SFA, Enigma and Judas.

I actually don't mind her skipping Artpop and Joanne. However I do feel it's time for her to switch up the hits. I get that she feels the need to perform Poker Face, Just Dance and Bad Romance. But there's really no need to keep performing Love Game, Telephone and Alejandro every tour.

I can't believe this tour is actually starting soon. My show is in exactly two weeks!

Well, it’s not like she’s doing a greatest hits tour as lots of Chromatica songs are included, it’s the Chromatica Ball, after all, but when you’re doing stadium shows you have to take into account that more than half of attendees are general public or casual fans who want to hear as many hits as possible… and not album tracks or rarities.
So I don’t mind her at all singing those classic hits. In fact, I’m missing some of them…
And, yes… if that’s the final setlist, some of my favs from Chromatica as well are missing…

Well, it’s her current single, charting in all the countries she’s performing… and it’s not that strange that she finishes with a ballad or mid tempo.
Enigma ended with Shallow, Joanne World Tour with Million Reasons, ArtRave with Gypsy…

I do prefer concerts to end with an uptempo song, though… But I’m not really surprised she chose that song to close the show.

A member on atrl wrote the European grosses as of July 10. Don’t know if we can believe those numbers tho.
but kinda expected numbers. Specially since they didn’t open the highest sections for Sweden. This will always be a mystery.
