He's just finished the European stadium leg, now doing North American stadiums before a second round of Australia/NZ stadiums in January next year. The touring schedule was to go arenas -> stadiums but COVID meant the European arenas will not be the final set of dates.

He's also all but definitely going to add another show for late June next year that will be headlining Glastonbury.

Elton John’s Final U.S. Concert Set for Disney+ Livestream

ELTON JOHN’S “FINAL” U.S. concert — a Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour gig at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium — will livestream on Disney+ on Nov. 20.

The streaming service officially announced Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances And the Years That Made His Legend during the D23 Expo, with the livestreamed L.A. show accompanying the previously announced original documentary about the rock legend.

The documentary — co-directed by R.J. Cutler, who also helmed Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry, and John’s husband David Furnish — will feature unseen concert footage and more archival footage from throughout John’s long career, plus an in-depth look at his creative process and family life. It’s unclear when the film will premiere, but the doc will reportedly have a theatrical run in addition to streaming on Disney+.

While the Dodger Stadium concert marks the last U.S. show on what’s been advertised as John’s final tour, the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour will keep the singer on the road for the majority of 2023: Following a tour of Australia and New Zealand in Jan. 2023, John will spend March through July 2023 touring Europe. His final scheduled show — as of now — is a July 8, 2023 gig in Stockholm, Sweden.

I can see him doing some sort of "encore" style Vegas residency since he always makes huge returns there, but considering his age I can't imagine he'll ever manage a major tour like this again.

Elton John Closes in on All-Time Boxscore Record After Final U.S. Touring Shows

Elton John played his final U.S. touring concerts over the weekend, saying goodbye to his fans on the road in America with three shows at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium. With reports for his last 13 domestic shows, the total gross for the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour sprints closer to the top of the all-time Boxscore heap. According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, John’s goodbye tour has grossed $749.9 million and sold over 5 million tickets since launching in 2018.

That means that since our last report on his whereabouts, John added almost $90 million to his total gross and is now within $30 million of Ed Sheeran’s The Divide Tour, which finished with a record-setting $776.4 million. The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour has passed U2’s 360 Tour ($736.4 million) to become the second-highest grossing tour in Boxscore history. (John still has about 50 shows left next year in Australia and Europe, so he could surpass Sheeran’s record soon enough — more on that in a moment.)

Ultimately, the tour’s North American stadium leg added $222.1 million to its total gross, doubling the revenue of his domestic arena run in the Spring, and tripling the revenue of his Summer spree of European stadium shows. His Fall dates averaged $6.7 million and 40,500 tickets.

Those three final Dodger Stadium shows grossed $23.5 million and sold 142,970 tickets on Nov. 17, 19 and 20. The last of those was livestreamed on Disney+ and featured guest appearances by Brandi Carlile, Kiki Dee and Dua Lipa. It was the biggest gross and attendance total of the entire tour, surpassing the $16.7 million take at Gillette Stadium and the 99,827 ticket count at MetLife Stadium, all of which played in July.

It was John’s third trip to Dodger Stadium, following shows in 1992 (two nights – $3.4 million; 99,453 tickets) and 1975 (two nights).

With $26.5 million separating John’s farewell big from Sheeran’s mid-career high, each report becomes more tense than the last. The trek will continue with 10 shows in Australia and New Zealand in January. He played 38 shows on the continent between November 2019 and March 2020, averaging $2.5 million. At that rate, he’d end January at $774.4 million, just $2 million short of the record.

But his previous Oceania run was in arenas, and his 2023 shows will be in stadiums. With ballooned venue capacities, he’s bound to break Sheeran’s record early in the new year, and even if ticket prices (and thus, grosses) stay modest, he’s got another 40-plus shows in Europe to follow, making it all but inevitable that John will set a new all-time high. It’s just a matter of when.

Seems like my speculation was correct! Elton's final show in the UK will be as Glastonbury's Sunday Night headliner on the Pyramid Stage.

I assume with his current totals, Elton's lifetime gross is somewhere around $2.5 billion? Since he's likely to add another $100m to that total next year, I assume that makes Elton the second highest-grossing live act of all-time behind The Rolling Stones.

Elton John Tops November Boxscore Report With $60 Million Gross


The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour brought in the amount in its final eight shows of 2022.


“The bitch is back” for the sixth time, as Elton John tops Billboard’s monthly Boxscore report at No. 1 on the Top Tours chart. According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, his eight shows in November grossed nearly $60.2 million and sold 340,000 tickets.


That sixth gold medal dates to the inaugural monthly Top Tours chart, when John earned $23.4 million in February 2019. He did it twice more in 2019, once in 2020, and again just last month. With his November ’22 triumph, he extends his record for the most months at No. 1, distancing himself from Bad Bunny’s four and The Rolling Stones’ three.

John also claims four of the top 10 positions on Top Boxscores, which ranks the top-grossing concert events of the month. Those are led by his triple-header at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, grossing $23.5 million from 143,000 tickets sold on Nov. 17, 19 and 20. The L.A. shows served as the last domestic concerts of his farewell tour, with the final night livestreamed on Disney+ with special guests Brandi Carlile, Kiki Dee and Dua Lipa.

Otherwise, John banked $15.7 million in Phoenix (Nov. 11-12 at Chase Field), $8.8 million in San Diego (Nov. 9 at Petco Park), $7.8 million in Las Vegas (Nov. 1 at Allegiant Stadium) and $4.3 million in Denver (Nov. 4 at Ball Arena).

The Denver show was a replacement for a Houston stadium concert that was canceled due to the Astros advancing in the World Series, and is John’s only event of the month that misses the top 10 on Top Boxscores.

Other than that last-minute switch-up, John’s been playing stadiums in North America since mid-July after touring domestic arenas for the first several legs of the tour. This string of 33 shows grossed $222.1 million and sold 1.3 million tickets, quite easily the strongest leg of the entire run. At $6.7 million and 40,500 tickets per show, it paced close to 2:1 against any previous stretch, including the European stadium run over the summer.
