  • Madonna - The Girlie Show

The Girlie Show World Tour (also referred to as simply The Girlie Show) was the fourth concert tour by American singer and songwriter Madonna, in support of her fifth studio album, Erotica. The tour visited the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia for the first time, selling 360,000 tickets in this leg only.[2] Madonna's inspiration for the name of the tour was a painting called "Girlie Show" by Edward Hopper.[3] The tour is estimated to have grossed over US$70 million.[2][4] Two separate television specials were broadcast during the tour, one made during the Japanese leg of the tour and shown only on Japanese television; Madonna Live in Japan 1993 – The Girlie Show, and an HBO special Madonna Live Down Under – The Girlie Show which was later released in 1994 by Warner Music Vision on home video.[5]

    she delivered.

The Blond Ambition Tour was game changing but The Girlie Show didn't disappoint.

Favorite performances: In This Life, Like A Virgin, Holiday, Justify My Love, Everybody

My second favourite Madonna show after Drowned World Tour, which are both the best concert tours I've seen.

This is sublime. One of her most organic and theatrical shows, it has the best live band and arrangements, the soul in her vocal delivery is fantastic, and her showmanship is astonishing. This tour had heart that none of her other tours have ever replicated. It was so boundary pushing and forward thinking thematically, and way too advanced for the world in 1993. They weren't ready. It's so under appreciated by critics.

Such a great show, love it. Highlights are Fever, Express yourself and Justify my love I would say. Lowlight is Like a virgin.

The good news: superb staging, choreography, strong live vocals, Madonna's warmest stage persona ever

The bad news: The Weimar cabaret segment is the weakest: "Like A Wirgin" is cute, but goes on for too long and "I'm Going Bananas"....why??? But "Bye Bye Baby" and "La Isla Bonita" save the day. Would have liked "Thief of Hearts" or "Waiting" somewhere in the setlist as well.

Overall: another step forward in M's evolution as a world-class entertainer, perhaps my 2nd favorite after the immortal Blond Ambition

My fave tour by her. Especially love the run from Erotica to Whys It so Hard. Yes it drags a bit from In This Life and Like a Wirgin but it gets better at Bye Bye Baby. Only song missing would be Rescue Me directly after The Beast Within interlude.
