Certification Thresholds

500 points = Gold
1,000 points = Platinum
2,000 points = Double Platinum
3,000 points = Triple Platinum
4,000 points = Quadruple Platinum
5,000 points = Diamond

I've now upweighted the reputational value you get based on post count - previously, you got 1 additional reputational power point for every 1 thousand posts, that number is now 1 per 500 posts!

What is my reputation power?

This is the value of each reputation award you issue - for e.g. if your power is 25 points, an award from you to another poster will upweight their reputation by 25 points.

How is my reputation power determined?

For every 365 days you are registered here: 1 point
For every 500 posts you make: 1 point
For every 250 points you score in reputation: 1 point

It has not been shelved yet!
In the meantime you may also use the "Like" function when you agree or like a certain post. Instead of using the old way of quoting and adding "This", +1, Agree, etc. comments

I've done some digging on this, and apparently the "like" functionality is what builds your reputation - therefore, the more "likes" you get, the higher your reputation!

btw is there a way of showing the 'certification' of the reputation differently? Because it looks all the same (Gold, Platinum or even 2x / 3x Platinum all have those orange bars).

Not many people seem to notice this system yet. I also agree with Tansike that the bars should be more reflective on the amount of reputation. Before the update I had about 8 green bars while others had far more and now it all appears we have the same amount.
It was kind of fun seeing the growth etc. plus it feels unfair now.

Oh, glad you understood my point. I only noticed a mistake now (I wrote 'song' instead of 'same')

^ Not sure if you can do that, I've tried widening the thresholds but that doesn't appear to have had any impact.

We haven't done this in a while! As a reminder, the reputation system is different now - it's based on your "Likes" (each person has a reputation power based on a whole number of factors - a "Like" can therefore carry different levels of reputational power, depending on who it's from). Given that the "Like" functionality is used hugely, it's resulted in the reputation points jumping exponentially. I've therefore changed the Certification structure as follows...

<500 - is currently uncertified.
500 - is certified Gold.
1,000 is certified Platinum.
2,000 is certified Double Platinum.
3,000 is certified Triple Platinum.
4,000 is certified Quadruple Platinum
5,000 is certified Quintuple Platinum.
6,000 is certified Sextuple Platinum.
7,000 is certified Septuple Platinum.
8,000 is certified Octuple Platinum.
9,000 is certified Nonuple Platinum.
10,000 is certified Diamond.
20,000 is certified Double Diamond.
30,000 is certified Triple Diamond.
40,000 is certified Quadruple Diamond.
50,000 is certified Quintuple Diamond.
