    Oh wait same!

    I wasn't aware of that.

I will get a new premium membership if we get username amnesty again

Just a note - I am not ignoring you, I just want to think of a different way of doing this as what we currently have doesn't necessarily work in the way I wanted it to. I turned off the auto-renewal last month as a result.

Wayne Would you be able to divulge how much was raised for premium membership from the time it opened up last year Feb?

Around £483.75 in premium membership (lost around 10% of proceeds due to current depreciation and PayPal taking a small %).

I keep track of my outgoings with UKMIX - happy to share:

          Date Amount Comments
          May 2018 to
          Feb 2019
£291.29 Getting a test site up & running and running some
diagnostic checks. And getting hosting sorted.
          Feb 2019 to
          Present
£798.61 Covers the ongoijng costs around hosting and domain
          renewals/registrations.
          Jan 2020
          (One Off)
£152.47 Cost of new software (30% discount).- long term, necessary
to upgrade and wanted to take advantage of the discount.
          May 2018 to
          Present
£1,360.03 This is additional costs - e.g. where I've opted to outsource
some of the IT work (e.g. moving us from phpBB to vB).

Since I acquired UKMIX, it has cost me £2,602.40 (less the £483.75 I've recouped in Premium Membership - a huge thanks to the 45 of you that contributed to this, I'm hugely grateful to you). Moving forward, I want us to continue with Premium Membership, but I just need to find a way to make it feel like those who opt to contribute to the running costs of the site are getting something meaningful in return. The alternative is that I monetize the site to cover its running costs through adverts and affiliate links, which Lars previously did.

The rough cost of running UKMIX is around £800 per year (£650 in hosting costs and £150 in domain fees).

Had no idea it had cost you that much! Wouldn’t blame you for monetising.

              As an idea:
if anyone wants to be considered for monitoring the site, they must be a Premium member at their cost.
put ads on the site. Only premium members are ad free.
specialised site themes only available to Premium members.
site only available to premium users for a few hours a day like 6pm - 9pm UK time?

We have so many regulars that frequent the site as I’m assuming they enjoy it, yet we have only 45 premium members. Maybe it’s just me but is £15 really that much annually? That’s £1.25 per month.

OK, I'll try this: I received an email on 21 Apr saying my subscription would expire in a few days. I clicked on the email link, it took me to a screen that showed my status, but there was no way to renew, no 'subscribe' button or anything. A few days later after my subscription had expired, I clicked on the link again, it went to the same screen to show my status, but it was now completely blank, and still no way to renew, no 'subscribe' button or anything. I'm here willing to give my money to fund this most excellent site, alas there apparently ain't no way to do it right now, but I'm OK, no rush...

I'll volunteer an extra opinion. I read somewhere here that the premium users auto-renew feature has been turned off while it is being reevaluated. That's fine, but I actually prefer to manually renew. Just tell me when I expire (croak), and I'll manually renew my subscription myself; just not a fan of auto-renew stuff wherever it may lurk across this big blue marble. Cheers !!
