Wayne, how about us buying a voucher for a fellow Mixer to get premium status?

If that's something that someone wants to do, then I'd advise sending a manual payment that matches the subscription cost via PayPal of:

          £12 (UK based)
          $15 (International - USD)
          €14 (European)

By manual, I mean just sign into the PayPal account and select "Send Payment" and send to webmaster@ukmix.org.

Then just message me who you want to have premium membership and I'll add them to the list, along with messaging the user also on behalf of the person who gifted (if that's what they want).

Can a Premium members name appear in a different colour? (Like we currently do for Mods)?

I'm not keen on this, if I'm being honest! It'd be very confusing to site users IMO.

Thanks Wayne. It was worth the ask.
Would be nice though for Premium Users to stand out, name wise. Might make others join in on the special colour and pay to become premium members.

Not only is my name not showing up in green, but neither is my avatar. Was I removed from being a premium member? Did I do something against the rules? I PMed Xceed asking this same question and never got a return. Thanks

Something for the UKMIX team to consider, if you haven't already done so.
Since you have now raised some cash from subscription, some funding organisations will actually match what has been raised already. I was thinking for example that the National Lottery might be a good place to start. As UKMIX is a voluntary project and not a commercial body with loads of members offering a service to loads of others, it must qualify for grants surely?
After all they give grants for making films, which are not the traditional type of charitable funding. So small grants to a website such as UKMIX wouldn't be breaking the bank!
I suggest a member of the moderation team look into the funding packages of the Lottery.
Don't forget if they require some form of constitution, then you can use the "rules" section of UKMIX for it.
Education for anyone aged 12 to 16 has made a mess of the world!

Is there some way of notifying us when the 365 days is expiring? Email or PM? I only realised when I noticed that I didn't have access to the Premium Users Only Forum anymore!

Just a note - I am not ignoring you, I just want to think of a different way of doing this as what we currently have doesn't necessarily work in the way I wanted it to. I turned off the auto-renewal last month as a result.

Around £483.75 in premium membership (lost around 10% of proceeds due to current depreciation and PayPal taking a small %).

I keep track of my outgoings with UKMIX - happy to share:

£1,360.03 This is additional costs - e.g. where I've opted to outsource
some of the IT work (e.g. moving us from phpBB to vB).

Since I acquired UKMIX, it has cost me £2,602.40 (less the £483.75 I've recouped in Premium Membership - a huge thanks to the 45 of you that contributed to this, I'm hugely grateful to you). Moving forward, I want us to continue with Premium Membership, but I just need to find a way to make it feel like those who opt to contribute to the running costs of the site are getting something meaningful in return. The alternative is that I monetize the site to cover its running costs through adverts and affiliate links, which Lars previously did.

The rough cost of running UKMIX is around £800 per year (£650 in hosting costs and £150 in domain fees).

Had no idea it had cost you that much! Wouldn’t blame you for monetising.

                                            As an idea:
if anyone wants to be considered for monitoring the site, they must be a Premium member at their cost.
put ads on the site. Only premium members are ad free.
specialised site themes only available to Premium members.
site only available to premium users for a few hours a day like 6pm - 9pm UK time?

We have so many regulars that frequent the site as I’m assuming they enjoy it, yet we have only 45 premium members. Maybe it’s just me but is £15 really that much annually? That’s £1.25 per month.

OK, I'll try this: I received an email on 21 Apr saying my subscription would expire in a few days. I clicked on the email link, it took me to a screen that showed my status, but there was no way to renew, no 'subscribe' button or anything. A few days later after my subscription had expired, I clicked on the link again, it went to the same screen to show my status, but it was now completely blank, and still no way to renew, no 'subscribe' button or anything. I'm here willing to give my money to fund this most excellent site, alas there apparently ain't no way to do it right now, but I'm OK, no rush...

I'll volunteer an extra opinion. I read somewhere here that the premium users auto-renew feature has been turned off while it is being reevaluated. That's fine, but I actually prefer to manually renew. Just tell me when I expire (croak), and I'll manually renew my subscription myself; just not a fan of auto-renew stuff wherever it may lurk across this big blue marble. Cheers !!
