Notes!

• My #1 appears to have made the top 100, which I didn't expect.
• I tried to pick artists who had a fighting chance of getting other votes but I couldn't neglect JID, Josh Gracin, Jack Savoretti, Martin Garrix, or Saint Motel and not surprised I'm the lone voter for those. Not surprised it's all male artists too. Not surprised about Sam Hunt either, but I don't know what I was thinking giving him that many points.
• However, I am surprised my five points are the only ones for Lil Nas X though I thought at least Infamous would kick in a few points with me.
• I am disappointed no one else voted for RAYE. I'm also mildly disappointed Doja Cat didn't make the top 100, but even more so Chloe x Halle didn't. They were in my top 20.
• Wow, someone else voted for Caro Emerald? And Zedd?
• Others that I voted for include Cardi B and Tove Lo.
• Bastille wasn't in my list, but made my honorable mentions

• India Arie (props to whoever voted for her - I'm mad I forgot about her!).
• Celeste - a discovery this year, but too new to me to include her.
• Fleet Foxes is a cool pick, but would never have remembered them.

• Duffy - I should have included her - I was obsessed with her debut.

The long list is such a good reference point for the last 20 years of music by the way, I’m gonna look through again at some point and remind myself of forgotten gems.

At least one other person voted for Lizzo; even though she’s still pretty new in mainstream terms, her debut era was so good and she was so enjoyable at Glastonbury that I put her at #41.

Oh I missed that she's out. I kicked in three points for Lizzo I think I lost about 1/3 of my list.

Poor CRJ, I definitely thought she had a chance at being a fair bit higher based on UKMIX generally loving her. Run Away With Me alone deserves top 100! #34 on my list.

So far I've lost:

Lindsey Stirling - I have Tansike to thank for introducing me to her. I've kept up for the most part with her releases and have really enjoyed her output.
Glee Cast - such great memories associated with their covers. Fellow Gleeks Spartan and Ska8er - we tried, but they needed another 56 points to make the top 100.
Cardi B - definitely one of the most exciting new faces in hip/hop of the last decade. I remember how obsessed I was with "Bodak Yellow" back in 2017.
Miranda Lambert - definitely one of my favourite country music acts.
Megan Thee Stallion - thought she'd get more support; definitely think she's super talented and that Good News was a great debut effort.
Sara Bareilles - I mainly voted for her because of "She Used to Be Mine" and "I Choose You" - two of my fave songs of the last 20 years.
Zayn - killer debut era, things have kinda petered out, quality-wise, since then.
Conchita Wurst - my fave ESC champ.
Lizzo - she does great, feel-good, soul-pop music.

- The act in question would have needed to release either their debut single or debut album within that 1/1/2001 - 12/31/2020 window. For cutoff purposes, we'll go with the earlier of the two single/album release dates.

If I understand the rules correctly, it depends on 'Fallen' and 'Bring Me to Life', which were released in 2003.

I really went in for the nostalgia - I was massively obsessed with him for a few years, I can remember getting his debut album for Christmas one year and I was smitten.

What My Heart Wants to Say remains a bonafide classic and it should be an automatic ban tbh for anyone who disagrees.

Yeah, I accepted Evanescence because their pre-2001 career clearly seemed to be underground enough to the point that the average music fan might've not been prompted of their existence until 2003. The OP list was never meant to be all-inclusive and there were discussions within this thread about other acts with borderline cutoff or limited releases (like Sia and Gwen Stefani).
