I have to agree with you here. His most iconic video and the title track to his biggest album and era, year-end Billboard Hot 100 number one single of 88.

Careless Whisper was a big global seller though, and is there anyone who doesn't recognize that saxophone?

I think CW is bigger than George tbh. Like, when people hear the song, they think of the song, not of the artist.

CW is so corny. He has so many better songs.

His biggest songs are definitely

Faith
Careless Whisper
Freedom
Father Figure

But I think Faith is his signature song.
Kylie Minogue, Garbage, Simply Red, Coldplay, U2, Janet Jackson, Blue October, Godsmack

Slow down and dance with me....yeah....slow....

To be fair, George was 17 when he wrote CW.... quite impressive when you think about it.

Plus, I think it was great of him as a human to give Andrew Ridgeley a writers credit despite him having nothing to do with the song (it was even credited to GM solo though Wham was together still, though in the US it was "Wham ft. George Michael" just because he knew royalties from that song would always be able to keep his friend to live comfortably long after Wham dissolved.

I think there are 3 contenders - Genie in a Bottle, Dirrty and Beautiful.

From a UK point of view, I'd say Dirrty. That was her big peak era and the song which really got her noticed by errbody. When that video came out, she was errwhere and errbody was talking about her non-stop. Plus it helped the album and that era become huge.

Beautiful was a big hit too, but the song itself has its own life, away from Christina. But Dirrty is all about Christina.

For example, somebody might hear 'Beautiful' and remember the song, but if somebody heard 'Dirrty', you immediately picture Christina and that video/image.

I'd say 'Beautiful' because of it's huge success in the US.

('Dirrty' probably is her signature song in Europe though)

Beautiful for sure.
Unlike other things that wither, she preserves. She’s a constant in a world of relentless flux. She’s a beacon of immortality. Bitch, she’s Madonna.

I thought that it would be "Hurt" tbh, but apart from that I would also say "Beautiful".
