Britney Spears managed to get 8 nominations this year. Although Glory couldn't smash charts as during her golden era, she certainly smashed UKMIXParade! And Make Me is probably, imo, on of her hottest singles, in par with I'm A Slave For You and Boys, two personal favourites.

Britney managed 6 songs in the TOP 300, with 3 of them in the Top 100. But she is not the artist with the most entries... that artist will be presented later. Anyway, 6 entries is quite an accomplishment! Interesting fact: Britney is the veteran act between the top nominees...

Best Pop Song: Make Me (feat. G-Eazy)
Best Pop Album: Glory
Collaboration Of The Year: Make Me (feat. G-Eazy)
Female Artist Of The Year
Song Of The Year: Make Me (feat. G-Eazy)

Coldplay also manages 8 nominations this year. Their latest album, A Head Full of Dreams, marked a departure from previous sound, as it is a more colourful and joyful album. And their collaboration with Beyoncé paved the way for them to score noms in all top awards.

Coldplay scored 4 songs in the year-end chart, but all of them ranked inside the Top 100! Even better, they have 2 top 10 songs.

Collaboration Of The Year: Hymn For The Weekend (feat. Beyoncé)
Group Artist Of The Year

Adele gets 7 nominations. She may not be the artist with the most nominations but she certainly is a highlight this year, as she repeats 2015 Artist and Song of the Year noms, the latter with the exact same song: monster-hit Hello. She took home both awards last year, will she repeat it?

25 ruled the charts everywhere, and UKMIXParade was not an exception. She managed 3 top 40 songs: #4 Hello, #16 When We Were Young and #38 Send My Love (To Your New Lover). She has three more songs in the Top 300, including Rolling In The Deep, the leading single from her previous work.

Best Pop Artist
Best Pop Song: Hello
Best Pop Album: 25
Female Artist Of The Year
Song Of The Year: Hello
Album Of The Year: 25
Artist Of The Year

voted. I took out the Non-English, Country and Alt-Rock categories as I had only really listened to a little from the latter one, so If I happen to get around to listening to some of those so I can judge it a bit more, I might throw a vote for those.

Ariana Grande scores 7 nominations this year thanks to her latest effort Dangerous Woman. Her buzz single Focus and her first single DW couldn't become BIG hits, although they did fine. But Into You hit big time, and Side To Side is doing pretty well too, saving this era for her.

Ariana manages a big accomplishment this year reagrading UKMIXParade... she scored 7 hits in the TOP 300, something only one other artist achieved, who will be presented soon. But coming back to Ariana, it is a good sign of her healthy support across UKMIX. This are her songs:
#274 Let Me Love You, #224 Moonlight, #159 Greedy, #72 Be Alright, #34 DangerousS Woman, #22 Side To Side and #2 Into You.

Best Pop Artist
Best Pop Song: Into You
Best Pop Album: Dangerous Woman
Female Artist Of The Year
Song Of The Year: Into You
Album Of The Year: Dangerous Woman
Artist Of The Year

Twenty One Pilots gets 7 nominations, but none of them in the Top awards.

Stressed Out, the first single from their latest effort Blurryface, was kind of a slow hit, but eventuall reached very good rankings across the globe. Later they came back with Ride and Heathens, breaking the one-hit wonder status that I thought they were going to achieve. The three singles managed to enter the TOP 40, so it was a very good year for them.

Best Alt-Rock Artist
Best Alt-Rock Song: Ride
Best Alt-Rock Song: Heathens
Best Alt-Rock Song: Stressed Out
Best Alt-Rock Album: Blurryface
Best Song Made for a Movie: Heathens
Group Artist Of The Year

For releasing one of the best albums of the year, Beyonce's 6 nominations seems underperforming, and considering 3 of those noms belongs to her collab with Coldplay, then it certainly underperform here.

Lemonade was her second visual album, but in this case she doubled her bet and release a concept album. This album finds Bey exploring different genres aside fro the usual contemporary R&B she is used too. Some alt music, some country, some reggea... a very brave set of songs imo.

Best R&B - Rap/HipHop Artist
Best R&B - Rap/HipHop Song: Formation
Best R&B - Rap/HipHop Album: Lemonade
Best Pop Song: Hymn For The Weekend (with Coldplay)
Collaboration Of The Year: Hymn For The Weekend (with Coldplay)
Song Of The Year: Hymn For The Weekend (with Coldplay)

Chainsmokers managed 6 nominations. After their 2014 eruption with the hit single #Selfie, the duo returned with a sequence of hot tracks that kept reaching new hights one after the other. Roses (#6 US / #16 UK) was followed by Don't Let Me Down (#3 US / #2 UK) but the smash was Closer (#1 US & UK). From that moment on they are going downwards (All We Know #18 US / #24 UK - Setting Fires #71 US / #55 UK). We'll see how Paris, their latest single, performs.

No matter what, they managed to find their name in many UKMIXer's Top 5 and that's why they are here this year.

Best Dance-Electronic Artist
Best Dance-Electronic Song: Don't Let Me Down (feat. Daya)
Best Dance-Electronic Song: Closer (feat. Halsey)
Best Dance-Electronic Album: Collage EP
Collaboration Of The Year: Closer (feat. Halsey)
Group Artist Of The Year

WELCOME to the second annual UKMIXParade Choice Awards!
During the upcoming days I'll be presenting this year's categories and winners based on the votes sent during these last couple of weeks.

But before we start presenting awards, let's open up the show with 4 times nominee this year, and owner of this year's #1 song of our UKMIXParade Year-end chart ... Justin Timberlake!

And now, to present awards for our first genre R&B - Rap/HipHop, making a big entrance sitting in a throne, please welcome miss Mariah Carey!

Image

This year Best R&B - Rap/HipHop Artists nominees are:
Image
Alicia Keys
Beyoncé
Drake
Rihanna
Weeknd

And the winner is:

BEYONCE
Image

Her marvelous Lemonade conquered not only fans and critics but also UKMIXers, so is crowned as 2016 Best R&B Artist following last year's Janet Jackson win. Congratulations!!!

For our next award, Best R&B - Rap/HipHop Song nominees are:
Image
In Common - Alicia Keys
Formation - Beyoncé
One Dance - Drake feat. Wizkid & Kyla
Kiss It Better - Rihanna
Work - Rihanna feat. Drake

And the surprising winner is:

ALICIA KEYS - IN COMMON
Image

Putting on some make up after a long period of time, Alicia upsets Beyoncé and Rihanna, two big contenders for this award! It was a tough battle but she deservedly receives this award, while Rihanna loses this award two years in a row now, as last year BBHMM lost against The Weeknd's Can't Feel My Face.

Finally, nominees for Best R&B - Rap/HipHop Album are:
Image
Here - Alicia Keys
Lemonade - Beyoncé
Views - Drake
Anti - Rihanna
Starboy - Weeknd

And the winner is:

BEYONCE - LEMONADE
Image

Lemonade was a clear winner this time. The album is a fantastic personal journey and is a strong contender for this year's Grammy Album of the Year. Good luck!

And now, as we say goodbye to Mariah, let's welcome a pair of Alt-Rock goddesses to present awards in the Alt - Rock genre... Björk and PJ Harvey!

Image

They'll present all awards singing together acapella, so let's start with Best Alt - Rock Artist nominees:

Image
David Bowie
Kings Of Leon
Radiohead
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Twenty One Pilots

And the winner is...

DAVID BOWIE

In a very tight result, UKMIX decides to honor the late David with this award. His body of work speaks for himself, as he definetly is one of the top artists of all time.

Moving on to Best Alt - Rock Song, the nominees are:
Image
Lazarus - David Bowie
Dark Necessities - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Ride - Twenty One Pilots
Heathens - Twenty One Pilots
Stressed Out - Twenty One Pilots

And the winner is...

DAVID BOWIE - LAZARUS

In yet another extremely tight definition, this haunting song, that served as David's final video, take the award. David wins both awards such as Lana Del Rey did last year.

Finally, this year's Best Alt - Rock Album nominees are:

Image
Blackstar - David Bowie
WALLS - Kings Of Leon
A Moon Shaped Pool - Radiohead
The Getaway - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Blurryface - Twenty One Pilots

And the winner is...

DAVID BOWIE - BLACKSTAR

Even when again it was a very close run between David and fellow nominees, with not much of a surprise David's final album gets the award. Although his death may have influenced some voters, this album is a superb piece of work and deserves the recognition.

And with a standing ovation we say goodbye to Björk and PJ, while we pay a final tribute to David and I close this first episode of this year's awards. Hope to see you tomorrow, feel free to share your thoughts on winners & losers.
