On saturday 7 april the 6th annual TMF Awards were presented. TMF (which stands for The Music Factory) is the Dutch equvalent of MTV and its awards can be seen as the most important public decoration Holland ha to offer in the pop music industry.

The show was held in the Ahoy halls in Rotterdam and lasted 5 hours in which a number of national and international stars made their appearance. Artists such as The Manic Street Preachers, Ronan Keating, Shaggy, Destiny's Child and Janet Jackson took the stage to either perform, receive an award or do both.

As last year artists from the UK had a prominent place in the winnings. Robbie Williams was the big winner in the international categories, he received no less than three awards. Unfortunately for the huge audience, Robbies girlfriend (at the moment rumours say her name is Geri Halliwell) did not allow him to travel to Holland to pick up the awards in person.

Other big winners include Destiny's Child (2 awards and Eminem. Janet Jackson was presented the Life Time Career Achievement Award for her contributions to pop music in general. For the natinal categories rock band Kane won 3 awards. I have listed the entire results below.

A lot of interesting interviews were held. For example with with Miss Janet Jackson who confessed she spends an average 45 minuts for clothing and make-up before going on a date with a boy. She found chosing the right clothes to be the hardest part. Destiny's Child were very pleased with the two awards they received from the Dutch audience. Earlier that day they also received a double platinum album for "Writings on the Wall" and their single "Independant Women" had reached a golden status in Holland. But the most interesting confession of all came from Shaggy who replied to the question what he would be doing now if he had not become a pop star with: "I would like to be the owner of a strip club."
