I agree. I think a lot of people who enjoyed her during her first 3 eras as Katy Perry may be too old, or just moved on to another artist, as a lot of younger people do.

How has no one said Dr Luke? That's the most obvious answer. As much as he may be loathed (and perhaps rightly so), these two had some serious magic together as songwriter-producer.

'Rise' is also a factor, her first dud release IMO.

she always been very typical popstar with fun cheesy pop image.
as the trend changed, her fans on previous era moved on, new kids not into her at all.
she's simply not cool or fun to 10's. and 20's think she's too cheesy and kid-ish.

Rise killed all the hype she had. It was released three years after Prism and then she waited almost another year to release Witness. If she had had her usual album roll out. Single in August, VMA performance, album in October, I'm sure things would be perfectly fine now.

Hmm...

The whole "Witness" promotion.
Minus "Chained to the Rhythm", videos become childlike (especially "Switch Switch" )

WITNESS (except Bon Appetit) was a mediocre album. The whole album was a piece of crap, have someone who had 5 #1s off an album to release a track like HEY HEY HEY, I mean what can someone expect?
People moved on.
And of course, the hideous haircut. A LOT of what Katy offered in the past were ridiculous catchy feel-good tunes (mostly done by Dr Like) with an incredibly sexy girly image.
We've got nothing of that.
I think she could have still have had a nice era if she had
1) Great music
2) Less pretentious image

I honestly feel like this is really the end for Katy Perry. She's never going back to the top. But she's somehow young and could release a couple decent albums and move onto becoming a TV personality, I doubt the public will eat her up again like they did back in 2010-2014

Lol, Kylie is doing fine for someone with 30 years of career. I don't think someone exepcts for her to be #1 WW these days lol she just aged. I think another artist would be better (:

Where did it go wrong for EMINEM?

Despite his latest album 'Revival' becoming his 8th consecutive #1 album in the US and UK, the critics weren't impressed and sales have been terrible for his standard (it sold less than 200,000 copies in the US opening week). Even a duet with Beyonce didn't work.

Bad material and the long wait. i don't know how to describe it better but his flow is also different so he probably did not stick to making music while he was gone and is out of touch? i think his contribution to river becoming a decent hit is like 10% which is reflected in actual album sales

I believe he is still rapping about his first wife... (spoiler: they're divorced for 20 years now).

I do love some of his music... His new album is quite enjoyable.

I think the lead single didn't click with the public, plus "River" may be a hit, but doesn't spark interest into the album and is more like a single seller instead of an album seller...
