I was just thinking, and wondering, just how many "classic" songs have had titles of the form The _____ Song? I ended up coming up with enough songs to fill a double CD. So what do you think of this for a tracklisting? Quite possibly half of the 10 worst songs of all time must be contained within here.

1. Scooter - The Logical Song
2. Stephanie Mills - The Medicine Song
3. Safri Duo - The Bongo Song
4. Wombles - The Wombling Song
5. Raging Speedhorn - The Hate Song
6. Goons - The Ying Tong Song
7. Elton John - The Last Song
8. Culture Club - The War Song

16. Jon Pertwee - The Worzel Song
17. Marvin Gaye and Tammii Terrell - The Onion Song
18. DJ Alligator Project - The Whistle Song
19. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - The Zephyr Song
20. Cheeky Girls - The Cheeky Song

1. Fast Food Rockers - The Fast Food Song
2. Savage Garden - The Animal Song
3. Ivor Biggun and the Red Nosed Burglars - The Winker's Song (misprint)
4. Mixtures - The Pushbike Song
5. Weezer - The Sweater Song
6. David Cassidy - The Puppy Song
7. David Thorne - The Alley Cat Song
8. Shirley Bassey - The Banana Boat Song
9. Four Bucketeers - The Bucket Of Water Song

Apart from this one of course:

16. Jon Pertwee - The Worzel Song
And this one has a good title at least  :
8. Shirley Bassey - The Banana Boat Song

Culture Club - The War Song
Culture Club - The Medal Song
Frankie Knuckles - The Whistle Song

What an odd and interesting compilation!

If it were a real album... I wonder who'd buy it.

I'm sure you're aware that some of those songs don't actually have "The" at the beginning of the title.

You're right - most of them are crap! There's only 3 songs I like - Thong Song, Hell Song and I love Zephyr Song. Other than, it's all bad... terribly bad!

I seem to remember a post about embarassing CDs we own, with quite a few "confessions", so probably many of us! Personally, I wouldn't buy it, might "acquire" it though... :-?

Saw all these but missed them off for a reason

Culture Club*2, Frank Sinatra (didn't think people knew them, and they were minor hits

Supertramp, Frankie Knuckles, Belle Stars (already had song with that title on list)

Marilyn Manson (simply ran out of space)

Four Bucketeers (thought that was in *checks* CD2 Track 9

Nah - just making a virtual CD.

Oh, and I think that all of those can be The _____ Song

I've never heard MJ's one called "The Earth Song", else I would have added it. The same goes for John Denver's country classic "Annie's Song".

In that case, these shouldn't be on the list either:

Thong Song
Pyramid Song
Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)
Alley Cat Song
Banana Boat Song
Ying Tong Song
59th Street Bridge Song
Worzel's Song
Onion Song
Winker's Song (Misprint)
Birdie Song (The Birdie Dance)

Because none of them have a "The" before them.

For example:

Yeah... I agree that they are not technically called those names - however they're ones often though of with a "The" at the start.

You can also add the All-American Rejects "The Last Song" on there.

lol at the idea of making a 'virtual CD' from the 2003 posts in this thread, although to be fair mixtapes and burning a playlist to CD were around and a thing back then whereas now making a spotify, Itunes playlist is so simple.

back on topic, was this ever done as a Survivor? someone request it.
