Liam Gallagher Announces Debut Solo Single, Manchester Bombing Benefit Concert

Peter Hook, A Certain Ratio, and more will play separate tribute show

Liam Gallagher will play his first UK solo show next Tuesday at Manchester Ritz, with profits benefiting victims of the Manchester Arena bombing. The funds will go to Manchester Evening News’ British Red Cross appeal, helping families affected by the attack that left 22 people dead and dozens injured. Gallagher has also announced “Wall of Glass,” the debut single from his new solo LP, As You Were. He’ll embark on a handful of UK dates after the Manchester concert. Check them out below. Peter Hook, Badly Drawn Boy, A Certain Ratio, and more will play a separate benefit concert on June 4. See details below.

Speaking to MEN about the benefit concert, Gallagher said:
"It’s outrageous. Just so sad. What can you do? It’s just f***ing out of order. There are kids and people dying all over the world. And for what? ... I just knew I had to [donate the profits]. I’m not in it for the money. The gig was going to happen anyway and we all have to do what we can. I want to try and help pick people up. People like me, doing what we do, it’s our duty to give people a good time."

I agree with that. Fair enough I like a bit of banter like the best of us. But it's almost every single day and it's getting boring.

Anyway... Buzzing for this! I hope Liam comes back and blows everything out the park!

Liam has released Chinatown today. It's different from Wall of Glass.
I like it but it'll need a few more listens I think.

Chinatown is n excellent track. Made for radio non stop airplay, with a summer and relaxing feeling, a modern production, not the usual stuff to hear from a gallagher/oasis album

Chinatown chorus is good but verse lyrics are a bit weak
Still better than Beady eye so a good sign for rest of album

Been hearing wall of glass on rock radio here in NZ which is a surprise

New track from the forthcoming album called For what it's worth. It's very The Beatles and reminiscent of John Lennon's solo material.

By far my favourite song so far.
