The Cocteau Twins meets The Art of Noise. Forget her pop past, this is the sound of a new alternative artist. This is the most shocking change of style since Nelly Furtado turned Maneater. I love it, Kanga has it listed as forthcoming- 7" only- starting from the ground up like a new act. Her next "proper" single Don't Give It Up is out in the New Year as is the album Ghosts. Working with Siobhan Fahey (i know!), and citing Nick Cave, kate Bush, Cocteau Twins and Antony and the Johnsons as influences, it looks very interesting indeed. Suga- what?

NB: i just looked and there's a topic on it in pop. I didn't think there was. Hopefully, some people will hear this who wouldn't normally look in there. I think the Rock/Alternative audience is what she wants. Please don't lock it- yet. :-?

WEll, her fans are the most likely to hear it. Her last album was already a step away from "Pure Pop". I think the "Indie" people need to hear this more.
I'm not sure how many Sugababes fans even care about her now.

Wouldn't have believed what was written had you not been the one who posted this.

SHOCKINGLY PROMISING!

But the twins and art of noise comparison is far from her reach, IMO.

i do, but I'm a pessimist. I don't expect her crossover to be so good.

I'm on Ryans side on this, I wouldn't say that she's gonna leave the whole pop thing behind at all.

Granted, the first two tracks on her Myspace are getting there, the last one was still very much in the pop vein though.

If she does really want to move out of the whole pop thing then I applaud her, but I can see this being an attempt to grab a little of the adult market as well as the youth, and it could well fall on it's ass.

If she's gonna go down the Tori Amos/Liz Frasier/Kate Bush path, it has to be 100%, 'cos people who actually know music aren't gonna be impressed by more than the odd song.

Many... at least in the SUGABABES Fan Forum I am. I absolutely love her new work!! My favourites so far would be the monotone Crime Of Passion and the weird Ghosts.

although Siobhan has crossed over to more serious music fans, i reckon her core fan base have followed her since the sugababes days (myself included). her initial teenybop audience have matured with her, and i think are ready for more challenging material. but i don't think she will abondon pop completely.

That's great, but let's face it, Easy will outsell Don't Give it Up by twenty to one at least.

I thought that this has actually been released already! :o
No, it's listed as forthcoming on 12" on our New Release Schedule. I don't think that's the case now tho. She has announced it will be a free download from her page for two weeks only starting this week and then she'll be promoting her "proper" new single- Don't Give It Up- out Jan 8th, she has filmed the video in Morroco and other exotic locations with Sophie Muller. I told her about the huge support on here. She hasnt answered yet. Album Ghosts is out February.

Revolution In Me already was a commercial classic IMO. It contained melodic pieces but on the other hand strange weirdness. 7 out of those 12 tracks are all-time favourites of mine.
