That was a shitty match tbh. Serena's serve was really poor but I'm so glad she won. Would've been a steamroll had Serena been serving well.

SERENA SLAM 2.0!!!! YAS! Ready for the Grand Slam after the US Open!!! Now I just need Fed to win tomorrow

great fight from Garbine... but Serena was just tougher and mentally more stable and focused. routine, you gotta give it to Serena.

21GS Titles since her first win in 1999 (-2015). Fourteen years of greatness..

I loved the way Serena cheere for Garbine when she was a little sad at the ceremony. Great moment for both players.

Alltime leaders Open Era 1968-

01 - 1987-1999 - 22 - Steffi Graf (GER)
02 - 1999-2015 - 21 - Serena Wiliams (USA)
03 - 1978-1990 - 18 - Martina Navratilova (CZ/USA)
04 - 1974-1986 - 18 - Chris Evert (USA)
05 - 1968-1973 - 11 - Margaret Court (AUS)
06 - 1990-1996 - 9 - Monica Seles (Yug/USA)
07 - 1968-1975 - 8 - Billie Jean King (USA)
08 - 2000-2008 - 7 - Venus Williams (USA)
09 - 2003-2007 - 7 - Justine Henin (BEL)
10 - 1971-1980 - 7 - Evonne Goolagong (AUS)

Looks like Serena directly followed Graf to become the next greatest champion.. as if she is Steffi's heir. More importantly, Serena overshadowing everybody else from her ERA.. i mean in 1997 Hingis almost won the Grand Slam... in 1998 she still dominated and everyone was going to say that Hingis would become the alltime greatest due to her being still a teenager then. After the French Open 1999 and after having won 5 GS singles titles.. she wouldnt win another GS in her lifetime.

Apart from the Seles stabbing, Serena and Steffi had almost the same type of career... Graf was injured for 1 year (1997-1998), Serena was injured/ill for round about the same time during her peak...the only difference is.. Graf retired weeks after her 30th birthday while Serena is playing her best tennis and is physically strong and healthy long into her 30's. Serena is the new Navratilova.. only better...and way more charismatic. IMO Navratilova came across as a major dick, especially towards my beloved queen Graf. (Evert the same btw..why they became so bitter i cannot say nor understand).

the worst, however, are Shriver & Tracy Austin.

Even Graf & Hingis made amends in the end and played show-matches together...but Navratilova, Evert, Shriver & Austin remained super bitter.

So my wish for the future...Serena beat that old hag Graf's record.. hehe & find urself a hot men's tennis icon and live happily ever after. <3 but dont u ever become a bitter champion like Navratilova, Evert, Shriver and Austin.

Us Open is gonna be just EXPLOSION galore. Surely she won't choke and Sharapova being number 2 sorta helps. She meets her in the Final.

It would be so good if it is a Venus V Serena Us Open Final. Or Venus gives her the Trophy should she complete the Calendar Slam.

That said her forehand can be sooo sloppy Serena

I am so glad to be living during one of the Tennis legends. Her and Venus are astounding and really have thrown shame on other players who have retired very early.

They used to get so much criticism for not playing all the tour and now it's paying off!

How ironic that she wins her 21st Slam on 7/11 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7AF5294ED4 - it was was meant to be!

I think Serena owes Bey a pint!

Congrats Serena 8-)

The US open is set to be the biggest sporting event of the year with Serena as the highlight.

Honestly if Djokovic won the French Open, I would be rooting for him tomorrow but he missed his chance with history. I hope Federer will expand his.

Been nostalgic these last few days rewatching Clijsters and Henin matches. Miss them so much, obviously i'm biased, bit it was so great staying up late and see all their matches. I hardly missed any of their matches during the big tournaments. I also miss dementieva, loved her.

Biased bitch.

I always like Clijsters but couldn't stand Henin for some reason. Obviously she was a great player but she annoyed the hell out of me. :P

^she was great though. I remember the slayage in 2007. Her match against Venus in the us open is the best female set i saw in my life. Although she wasn't likeable she brought variety to the game which is nowadays probably only matched By radwanska, sadly she can't be bothered in hitting a power shot. She needs to grow muscles! love her though

Yeah no-one can deny how great of a player Henin was. I just didn't like her.
That match between her and Venus was indeed amazing. obviously I was rooting for Venus.

I do like Radwanska though. :)
