Good call!

I wanted so bad to feel for the first time the Olympics spirit, now that it's in my country it doesn't seem real. AND I'm not there.

Volleyball, tennis, athletics and basketball will be those I'll try and follow closely, but I love to watch some random table tennis matches or gymnastics too.

Despite a big deal of controversy it is going to be interesting.
Some personal stories: Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, Mo Farah.
A lot of flagbearers {so to speak) on the line: Katie Taylor for Ireland, Gauthier Grumier for Estonia and so on.
Teamsports are also going to be extremely interesting.
I will be watching women football, basketball, handball, probably tennis and archery.

Excited for the opening ceremony!
Will be watching it back sinds it starts here in the middle of the night! :-(

The ceremonys in London were amazing with Bean, James Bond, Spice Girls, One Direction and Emily Sandé!

Really looking forward to the opening ceremony.
I'll be following all the sports really with a keen eye on all the Scottish athletes at the games.

BBC coverage of the opening ceremony starts at 23:40 - I assume the actual ceremony itself will start at midnight.

From what I just read, it starts at 8pm in Brazil, or 12am in the UK.

Don't expect international people in the ceremony, apart from Dame Judi Dench (!) reading a poem.

Really nasty injury suffered by French gymnast Samir Ait Sayid, who broke his left leg after crashing his vault. I saw it on the BBC live feed and actually felt sick when I realised what had happened.

I hope this won't be a career-ending injury. :(
