Looking forward to revisting Twin Peaks after 25 years.
It.s been said that this 9 episode limited series will wrap up the original story but I have a feeling that their might be more skeletons in the closet of this sleepy little town that will lead to something more.

Twin Peaks will return, fulfilling Laura Palmer's 25-year prophecy

In one of the final scenes of the iconic 1990s television drama Twin Peaks, the murdered American schoolgirl Laura Palmer said: "I will see you again in 25 years."

In one of those deals that only Hollywood could do, she is poised to make good on that promise.

Twin Peaks, which aired for only two seasons in 1990 and 1991, is returning as a "limited series" for the US cable channel Showtime.

David Lynch and Kyle MacLachlan on the set of Twin Peaks.

The channel has commissioned nine one-hour episodes of a new series, picking up events in the present day, more than two decades after the events of the original series.

Advertisement Twin Peaks, created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, was a surreal crime thriller set in a small, picturesque American town, ripped apart when the community's much-loved girl next door Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) was found dead, wrapped in plastic, on a riverbank.

It was an instant success, driven by a global marketing campaign which asked the question: Who killed Laura Palmer?

The series also starred Kyle MacLachlan as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, the coffee-loving investigator who is tasked with finding Laura Palmer's killer, Michael Ontkean as the town's sheriff, Harry S. Truman, and Peggy Lipton, as Norma Jennings, the owner of the Double-R Diner.

Fans of the series were teased over the weekend by simultaneous tweets from Lynch and Frost, referencing two famous quotes from the show.

"That gum you like is going to come back in style," they both tweeted, accompanied by the hashtag "#damngoodcoffee".

Kyle MacLachlan as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper and Michael Ontkean as the town's sheriff, Harry S. Truman.
The internet went into overdrive, speculating that either the series might return or the pair was collaborating on a Twin Peaks-related project.

A trailer was unveiled featuring a glimpse of schoolgirl Laura Palmer, the words "25 Years Later" and then "2016".

Kyle MacLachlan tweeted "Better fire up that percolater and find my black suit :-) #Twinpeaks" leading fans to believe that we'll see Special Agent Dale Cooper but other returning original cast members have yet to be revealed.

One thing is for sure, it'll be one hell of a ride

Well, it was already planned 25 years ago that something would have happened in 2016.. The last episode was in 1991 and we saw Laura Palmer saying that "we would have seen her again in 25 years.

1991 + 25 = 2016. :D

Kyle MacLachlan (Agent Cooper) has basically confirmed on Twitter he will be on this new season. Frost has announced that we will see both new characters and old ones.

So excited at this!! Agent Cooper has to return and Audrey, and the Log Lady :D

Maybe now we'll get a proper ending but who knows with David Lynch - the first episode of this show was one of the best openings to a TV series ever, you just got drawn into the mystery and strange goings on

I have never seen Twin Peaks, always wanted to but always heard about the 2nd season ending being a disappointment, didn't want to set myself up for that!, I look forward to watching Seasons 1 & 2 now there will be a season 3 to continue it.

Season 2 drags a bit, but it's not as bad as they try to present it. I think they were going in the right direction with the story after they were forced to discover who's the killer of Laura Palmer but the ratings dropped drastically after that and they canceled it

I'm waiting for temperatures to drop to start re-watching this  This will be my 3rd visit to Twin Peaks 8-)

Well, the thing is (and it's even worse in my opinion) that the show COULD still happen but without David Lynch. :o

They've not said it won't happen, just that Lynch isn't directing. He's already co-written the whole season with Mark Frost. He also Tweeted that Showtime had his blessing to carry on with it.

Though several of TP's actors have made this plea for him to return and there's a petition and thoughts of crowdfunding to fulfill Lynch's vision.

Kimmy Robertson is still the same. :o  Strangely moving to hear/see her again in this instance.

If the show is already written they should just go ahead

he only directed like 6 episodes of the the 2 seasons, anyway (plus the movie)

With or without David Lynch I'm really anticipating this; I'm disappointed that we didn't get more than two seasons although the second half of season two contained a lot of filler.

I started watching this last year and was hooked but after the solving of the murder, it became so boring that I just stopped and never finished.
