Belgium sounds a tad overrated on first listen – but then again, it originally did for me last year too and I ended up liking it.

Yet another poor year for Eurovision so far. So far my favourites would include:

Cyprus
Czech Republic
Estonia
France
Italy
Malta
Moldova (I'm such a sucker for folk music )
Netherlands
Serbia
Slovenia

No actual stand-outs though. Setting my hopes on Bulgaria now. Isn't it funny how all of a sudden they are a respected ESC country now?

I actually really like it, and I've found Australia's entries all a bit mild previously. If she can hit all those notes, this could easily continue their streak.

Flop entry from Australia, but they can elevate it by staging.

Love the Belgian entry (like most years) lets hope she is much better singing live than Blanche, as that fab song would have been higher in the votes surely
I agree!!! Even with Blanche the song managed to get the 4th place. Imagine with a charismatic artist.

Austria

- a tad generic
- vocally promising
- soulful
- might stand a chance in Lisbon in case he's good live

If the Australian song represented another country it probably wouldn't qualify.

Australia is not safe because it's just Australia.
Their choices might have been a bit generic but they were always well-produced, very radio-friendly and performed by artists with distinctive voices. That's why the juries loved them. Besides, Australia was Top 6 in 2015 and 2016 in the televoting as well.

Last year, I can totally understand that juries supported Isaiah. He had a great song, very contemporary, a bit Sam Smith-ish and very radio-friendly. However, it almost didn't reach the final.... Australia ain't safe.

When it comes to "#We Got Love", I think it will reach the final. It's one of the very few straight-pop entries which deliver some fun (the other might be Cyprus and Azerbaijan). I have already seen tons of Top 10s by fans in which Australia is very high.
Again, it's generic and kinda random but if Jessica performs well, the song will be successful in May.

Austria is good, btw. Personally, I think that the verses could be stronger but the chorus is catchy and memorable. He needs to sing it perfectly in May though.

Austria used the same set as last year for the music video, or is that just what all of Austria looks like?

The songs ok, hope he can hit those notes towards the end because Isaiah failed when he tried with his practically identical song last year

Finland, Cyprus, Azerbaijan and Czechia are the hearables. I think it's another terrible year.

What is everyone expecting from Yulia and Russia? Because last years effort was so bad and sub-par.

I have like 10 songs in my mind i would download to my phone. I think smaller countries are doing well this year. Not a bad year to me. Not sure if there is a clear standout yet.. waiting for the last 9 countries to make the boooooooom

Azerbaijan and Finland are as generic as it gets.
Czechia is just Talk Dirty To Me v.2.0
Cyprus is okay, but I have to see and hear it live

So there should be nine songs left:

No Idea
Bulgaria ... (released Monday)

Song Title Revealed
Ireland .. Ryan O'Shaugnessy (no release date)
Georgia .. Iraio (no release date)
Macedonia .. EyeCue (released Sunday)
Israel .. Netta Barzalai (no release date)

Artist Revealed
Russia .. Yulia (no release date)

National Final
Sweden (Saturday)...Ben Ingrosso? Margaret? Felix Sandman?
Norway (Saturday) .. Aleksander Walmann? Alexander Rybak? Ida Maria?
Lithuania (Sunday)

I know the cut off date to submit is this Monday, but as far as I'm aware that doesn't necessarily mean Russia, Israel, Ireland and Georgia have to reveal the songs publicly by then does it?

You are right. The entries have to be submitted to the EBU by the end of 12th March. However, this doesn't mean that the broadcasters or the entrants are obliged to officially release their songs. However, in recent years, there are no instances of entries being released AFTER that date. So I expect to hear the tracks on that date/13th the latest.
BUT it's not uncommon that a few entries will change a bit and we'll have to sit and wait for the official complilation release on 13th April to listen to the final versions for the very first time.

Israel will be released on Sunday.
Georgia's entry will be titled "For You" and will be mostly performed in Georgian.
Don't know anything about the Irish or Russian entry, though.

Eurovision.tv just uploaded the original/first version of "Forever" on its official Youtube channel!!!
So happy about this! This means that
a) discussions on the eligibility of the entry can finally come to an end since the EBU approved it
b) ALEKSEEV and his team reconsidered and decided to take the first version of the song which suits his voice so much better! The new version was so much weaker!

Our entry (Ireland) is like a Niall Horan album track. It's fine but it will struggle to qualify again; he has a nice voice

Austria is one of my favourites so far
