Those Gail and Les Dennis scenes were comedy gold, even though they weren't supposed to be.

Gail is always comedy gold, even when living with a serial killer

When she showed him the photo of David!

Ludicrous plot but entertaining. I don't see how Andy can stick around now unless Steph stands by him and he moves in with her, but I think Gail and Michael will last.

She should've shown him Nick instead.

That's what I was thinking! Imagine how funny it would have been had she picked a photo of Adam Rickett up

I loved his scene in the bistro when he had to spell everything out. I wonder what makes him come back, as Bruno hasn't left the show has he?

No spoilers please  :P

I heard she is getting the Corrie equivalent of a 'state' funeral . It's only fitting for such a well-loved character and actress.

Rightly so. Kudos to them addressing it so soon on screen too. I hate it when they draw it out.

Watched tonight's episode as it's a pretty special one - first time I've watched a soap in years!

Bawled.

I was expecting Ken and Liz to be more upset as their characters than they were but it turned out to be Tracy who couldn't stop crying. I think the funeral will be the one that really tugs at the emotions. Corrie isn't the same without her to be honest.

Bev giving Ken the glasses was the bit that got me.

Good acting from Kate Ford and it was to see refreshing to Tracey affected by something.

How Beverley Callard was able to hold it together in those scenes knowing everything she was saying was true is beyond me!

My only criticism is that the WHOLE episode should've been all about Deirdre's death and not have other storylines going on around it.

The glasses were the most emotional part for sure.

I used to be an avid Corrie fan, but haven't watched it consistently since Hayley died (nearly 18 months ago). When I have caught an episode, it has been awful on the whole. Hardly anybody is likeable anymore, and the acting seems to have gotten so hammy.

Re. Deirdre's death, I thought Bev was laughable. I used to really like her, but she was appallingly cringe yesterday and so obviously acting. The dialogue was horrendous too. Tracy went from calm to hysterical to calm to hysterical in the space of 20 seconds - thought it was really messy. Ken impressed me actually - which I don't usually say. Liz (or should I say Beverley Callard) was obviously emotional which was touching, but again, some rubbish dialogue from her. And too much emphasis on Kim bloody Marsh once the residents found out. The one person who stood out to me was Emily, and I'm glad the history between her and Deirdre was acknowledge - obvious real emotion from Eileen Derbyshire.

Another shoddy episode. Hopefully the funeral will be done properly but I doubt it

Bad acting from sulky Simon and a door blowing open. They're really scraping the barrel.

Deirdre's ghost was so bizarre.

Can't stand Rita. And the 'jokes' about the food throughout the episode were not funny in the slightest and in poor taste. Roy was the only saving grace of the episode.

Btw, I find it really weird when people say dead instead of passed away in this context. Like when Gail told Eileen that Deirdre is dead. So cold and direct. IMO, passed away should be used for someone who has recently passed, especially if from natural causes/illness.

I still can't believe Anne Kirkbride is dead . I keep expecting Deirdre to walk through the door everytime they show the Barlow's house.
The better scenes in the last few episodes involved Ken, Tracey and Liz. But some of the pub scenes were poor.
Many people blame the producer of the show for the terrible storylines of recent years and are always calling for him to be sacked.

Simon's reaction was unbelievable! The character hasn't hardened that much that he wouldn't give a sh*t that the only grandma he's ever known is dead.

Poor Tracey Luv. As she was storming out I couldn't help but hear Deidre shouting 'Ken do something!'
