You ignore your urge, give it another few months - save for the X.
+1 Buy the X and get the better device for your $$$, the extra cost is worth it.
I did it, kids.

The ebay prices for the X dropped to like 800€ after they revealed the new phones last week, so I grabbed one and it‘s the most beautiful phone ever.

I wasn’t impressed with the new XS stuff announced last week though.

New iPads and macs coming 30th October. Interested to see the iPad, as they’ve been neglected for a while... the iPad Pro for example, launched in 2015 and has only had 1 performance update since. Interested to see where they see them heading - and what impact the notch will have

Not buying a new iPad as I got the iPad Pro 10.5 just last year. I might get the new Mac mini if they release one. I already got the iPhone Xs max this year too and I’m waiting on my series 4 Apple Watch up shop.

I bought the iPad Pro 12” the day of release, and I see no reason to update it yet... no matter what updates Apple announce. It works perfectly, hasn’t a single scratch (a miracle) and I’m still in love with it. My Apple Watch (series 3) on the other hand, I wish I hadn’t bought. It’s pointless and scratched, which is annoying.

I got an iPad Air in 2014 cause I didn’t want to carry my old, heavy 15 inch MacBook to uni every day. But since I replaced that with a lighter 13 inch model last year, my iPad has been collecting dust at home. Can‘t see myself upgrade in the near future. Imo, it’s a device for people (like my mother) who don‘t want a laptop for whatever reason.

Ok, I did it, I bought an iPad Pro and I’m gonna live the post-pc era at its finest

I know 2 days it’s not enough to make a proper review but so far my feelings are extremely positive. I miss a few things, that’s true, but it’s so small and light weighted, powerful and portable that it pays off. I have a 2TB iCloud account for work porpuses so I saved extra euros getting the higher storage capacity.

Have any of you tried to use an iPad as your main “computer”?

I think this review reflects my own experiencie at 99%: https://9to5mac.com/2018/11/09/writing- ... -48-hours/

The more you use an iPad the more I think it’s evident that it’s not a laptop replacement. Rather, it’s a completely different experience that imo is more an entertainment system (movies, tv, radio, music, books, gaming, browsing etc) that allows administrative tasks to be performed (emails, document editing etc).

It does depend what you want it to be though. Personally, I couldn’t imagine writing an essay for university, or having to write and create reports on it for work etc. Editing and proof reading them, yes, but not crewing from scratch. Maybe even for getting my thoughts down and using it as a point of reference when actually writing something.

As a music fan, not everything is available on streaming platforms so I use my laptop to add songs into my Spotify library, and add my own photos to it etc. So I’m still glad I have a laptop, but I don’t necessarily need an amazing, top of the range laptop anymore. So I’d say they complement each other without replacing each other, but certainly will change how you use your laptop.

The regular iPad is the best value piece of technology available.

The iPad Pro is super shiny with outstanding hardware but it is spectacularly overpowered for virtually everything most people would ever use it for. If you plan to use a device primarily for consumption (movies, music, surfing, email etc) then save yourself hundreds of $/€/£ and go with the regular iPad.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with an iPad Pro but it does have horsepower to burn and you are unlikely ever to need it. Buy the regular iPad and you have enough left over to buy something else nice too.

An iPad Pro has a bigger screen. That alone makes it a love affair for watching stuff on!

Thank you for sharing your oppinions guys. I’m 1 week into the iPad Pro as my main (only) device for work and I’m in love with it even more every single day.

I recon that the first couple of days were a bit, just a bit, frustating because I had to search online some keyboard commands to replace the mouse but I learned those quickly and now it feels more natural. I love the big screen, it’s quite a huge deal!, the smart folio keyboard is the best one yet and much more functional than last year’s.

I work at a marketing agency, I’m a writer 90% of my time and I travel a lot which can be unnerving If you carry a lot of weight. The new iPad Pro is SO light, even the USB-C charger is ridiculous small compared to the MacBook one.

And don’t get me wrong, I have an iMac at home which I rarely use so I don’t feel tied to the iPad, but let me tell you this: I didn’t put a finger on the MacBook, iMac or any computer near me since I embraced the post-pc era experience 8-)

Powerful, light weighted, big screen, 11/10 design, terrific new pencil, face id, 5K monitor support, USB-C... I know this device is not for everyone but it truly improved my work experience. 8-)
