I haven't had much time to play it, but it's already infinitely better than GTA IV.

I feel like the only person in the world without this game right now :( I can't justify £45 to the Mrs though right now, she'll have a fit if I buy it and that cash can be spent on our upcoming nuptials. I hate being an adult :x

Grand Theft Auto V earns record-breaking $800M in 24 hours

Grand Theft Auto 5 publisher Take-Two Interactive tallied $800 million in sales on the game's first day of release, the company announced today.
That's the highest launch-day revenue of any GTA game and any game in Take-Two history, according to internal estimates. Grand Theft Auto 5 launched yesterday, Sept. 17, on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 worldwide, except in Japan and Brazil, where it will be released soon.
Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 currently holds the record as the entertainment release that was the quickest to reach the $1 billion mark — last November, Black Ops 2 grossed $1 billion within 15 days of launch, one day faster than 2011's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and two days faster than the 2009 film Avatar.
"All of us at Take-Two are thrilled with the initial response to Grand Theft Auto 5. Once again, the team at Rockstar Games have outdone themselves, setting the entertainment industry's new standard for creativity, innovation and excellence," said Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two, in a press release today. According to Take-Two, more than 8,300 stores in North America held midnight openings for Grand Theft Auto 5.

I work for one of the UK's top 3 biggest retailers and the company grossed nearly £3m from GTA V on the first day - the biggest ever game launch.

This realliy is a phenomenon that rivals and potentially exceeds even the biggest ever movie launches - there's certainly no other gaming launch that can rival this.

You can't compare movies and video games, the prices are completely different. But you're right, this is huge. Maybe Call of Duty: Ghosts can launch with similar or bigger numbers?

I doubt it though.

Oh I don't mean just in terms of the money made - I mean the launch itself; the hype around the reviews, the fact that nearly 9,000 stores in the US alone opened at midnight, that thousands of people worldwide were phoning in sick etc

Its just been such an event.

It grossed $800m on its first day alone, which completely obliterates the previous first day record held by call of duty: black ops 2 which grossed $500m on its first day. :o

Been playing it flat-out since launch...fantastic game! There were 500 people at the midnight launch at my local Tesco

Still in the process of installing, it's taking ages! Lol.

The console itself is very pretty! Though I hate how flimsy the L2 and R2 buttons are on the controller!

Okay, the verdict - I don't think I have EVER been as impressed by anything ever as I am by this game - like seriously, the realism sometimes is just too much

I actually ran a like a ferrel pig over earlier, felt so guilty afterwards :( lol.

Definitely recommend this - its worth every penny. Its mindblowing, actually.

Just little things. You don't have to wait until you've done 50% of the game to see the entire map, fly planes, boats. You can do it from the start.

There's jet ski's in this one. The whole world looks really good, the graphics are another step up. The damage to cars is a bit different, which I like. You can switch between 3 main characters. There's things like heists. Losing your wanted level stars is a bit different too. You can play tennis and golf.

Basically, it's the same GTA we all know and love with a few tweaks that make it really great! :D

It's alright.

I've played it twice over the past 4 days. Just like any other GTA so far IMO.
