Good to see "G.U.Y." still in your Top 5. The Avicii song is decent, but it's nothing extraordinary, in my opinion.

04 [01] "G.U.Y." by Lady GaGa
05 [06] "Addicted To You" by Avicci

"4 Minutes" was one of the first Madonna songs I remember hearing. I loved it back then. "Telephone" is one of the most epic collaborations in pop music history and, of course, all the Britney songs slay, particularly "...Baby". 8-)

17.04.99 "...Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears
20.04.01 "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely (feat. Christina Aguilera)" by Ricky Martin
25.04.03 "All The Things She Said" by t.A.T.u.
21.04.06 "Sorry" by Madonna
25.04.08 "4 Minutes (feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland)" by Madonna
23.04.10 "Telephone (feat. Beyoncé)" by Lady GaGa
22.04.11 "Till The World Ends" by Britney Spears
19.04.13 "If I Lose Myself" by OneRepublic

Thanks for all your nice comments!

@Benny
Really? Which Russian song are you talkin' about? And you're right about Eurovision this year.. however, I think that especially Sweden, Azerbaijan, Norway, Netherlands and Malta need to be heard in full (all of them are beautiful ballads on they own.. snippets don't do them justice). However, you kinda have some sort of cheap and basic and generic music this year :(

@JSparksFan
Ui, I really think that "Addicted To You" is better than anything else Avicci has released so far :D

It's finally happenin' again! My favourite season of the year has officially kicked off with the release of the compilation of this year's Eurovision Song Contest. To be honest, I haven't been a fan of this year's entries at the beginnin' but the studio versions made me like or even love them more. "Start A Fire" is my favourite by miles. It's a beautifully written & heartbroken ballad sung with a stunning vocal performance. The Polish entry - which topped my chart this week - is an attempt to combine contemporary hip-hop music with folklore elements and I really think that it's a brilliant mixture. Of course, you'll get to listen to utterly horrendous and cheap entries as well. You'll find some guilty pleasures (e.g. that wannabe Loreen by Tanja (not only the song is quite similar to "Euphoria" & "Glorious", but also her dance moves totally remind one's of Loreen's glorious "Euphoria" performance) or that hilarious copies of Robin Thicke (Belarus) and Bruno Mars (Denmark) - Cheesy tracks cannot be left out either (Sweden, San Marino, Austria)... However, this is what I absolutely adore about the Eurovision Song Contest. Each year we'll get a light entertainment programme with tracks for each and every different person with an individual taste in music! Oh, and I love it how bright and shiny this competition is! - Love it that Akini has become a fan of it as well. Era's next! <3

The semi-finals will be aired on 6th and 8th May, whereas you can see the grand-final in which 26 countries will be competing to be the next Loreen, Lena or Emmelie on 10th May!

Favourite Tracks:
My Słowianie - We Are Slavic (Poland) // Start A Fire (Azerbaijan) // Undo (Sweden) // Wild Soul (Moldova) // La Mia Città (Italy) // Children Of The Universe (United Kingdom) // Amazing (Estonia) // Coming Home (Malta) // Cheescake (Belarus) // Rise Up (Greece) // Calm After The Storm (The Netherlands) // Silent Storm (Norway) // Round And Round (Slovenia)

This is the original version of "Around The World".

Great new entries by Indilia ("Dernière Danse" is one of the best songs so far this year) and OneRepublic. To be honest I don't really like "Addicted To You", it's actually quite annoying and much weaker than "Wake Me Up" and "Hey Brother" IMO.
I will check out some Eurovision songs in full before the contest.

As you know, I don't really like their music

06 [NE] "Dernière danse" by Indila
That song is ok

10 [NE] "West Coast" by Lana Del Rey
Much better than her other lead singles

I like these the most

I just realized that I forgot to comment on the retro number ones! I like all these:
24.04.99 "...Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears
28.04.00 "Oops!... I Did It Again" by Britney Spears
27.04.01 "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely (feat. Christina Aguilera)" by Ricky Martin
26.04.02 "A New Day Has Come" by Céline Dion
02.05.03 "All The Things She Said" by t.A.T.u.
30.04.04 "Breathe Easy" by Blue
28.04.06 "Sorry" by Madonna
01.05.09 "Spaceman" by The Killers
29.04.11 "Till The World Ends" by Britney Spears
27.04.12 "Masterpiece" by Madonna

"A New Day Has Come" is beautiful, one of Céline's best songs.
Do you know the Italian version of "Breathe Easy", "A Chi Mi Dice"? I actually prefer it to the original version.
"Masterpiece" is great, one of Madonna's most underrated tunes.

Ugh Mainyy, it's Avicii, not avicci

01 [05] "Addicted To You" by Avicci
02 [04] "G.U.Y." by Lady GaGa
04 [NE] "Love Runs Out" by OneRepublic
06 [NE] "Dernière danse" by Indila
09 [08] "Riptide" by Vance Joy

I'm already over Love Runs Out, it got old fast. it seems to be the case with me and most OR songs. Derniere is great, but god, I overplayed it in the first two weeks I heard it that I barely play it nowadays.

24.04.99 "...Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears
28.04.00 "Oops!... I Did It Again" by Britney Spears
27.04.01 "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely (feat. Christina Aguilera)" by Ricky Martin
26.04.02 "A New Day Has Come" by Céline Dion
02.05.03 "All The Things She Said" by t.A.T.u.
28.04.06 "Sorry" by Madonna
20.04.07 "Give It To Me (feat. Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake)" by Timbaland
02.05.08 "4 Minutes (feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland)" by Madonna
01.05.09 "Spaceman" by The Killers
30.04.10 "Naturally" by Selena Gomez & the Scene
26.04.13 "Come & Get It" by Selena Gomez

I like all of these to some extent. Spaceman is particulary great, and so is All The Things She Said.

It's quite a surprise that I turned to be a fan with Madame Olzon, although I think that I prefer Tarja to her now... However, I need to check Olzon's solo stuff (perhaps I'm goin' to like it) but Eurovision entries are keepin' me busy these days :D
Ah okay, good to hear that :)
Well, i'm not sure if you could like it but i hope it. It's very different from the NW stuff and also from the stuff Tarja releases.

...

So the tour effect didn't work for too long for Within Temptation. But okay, they had their moment so i'm fine with that.
Nice number one, but i'm really surprised to see it smashin that hard on your charts as if i remember correctly "Wake Me Up" wasn't a hit at all, and "Hey Brother" too, right? :o
Also great longevity for "G.U.Y." and surprisingly 'low' debut for "Love Runs Out" (but glad it debuted!) :)

Actually i like all songs except "My Słowianie - We Are Slavic" this week, so fantastic week!!
So glad you like "Undo" now (despite your not-so-nice comment on facebook when you posted her in your countdown   ). It's now one of my faves as well
And glad to see "Dernière danse" debuting 8-)

I listened to "Addicted to You" again and it sounds way better than I remembered! :o I really like it. Good to see OneRepublic and Lana debut. I hope both climb this week, especially "Love Runs Out". :D

MAINSHOW's BACK
After getting to know that I made the Top10 of UKmix Personal Chart Of The Year 2014, I had the urge of being part of this popular, fantastic and enjoyable sub-forum again! (Thx for voting for my chart, btw (although I feel like I don't deserve it because I was not able to keep on track my own chart  ).

+ This chart needs to be ready to be slayed by Queen Chezza's new era (not counting that utterly horrendous "Crazy Stupid [Mistake]")!

The chart is very similar to my first chart (40 points for my #1, 39 pts. for my #2 and so on - however, there's a cut now because I have reduced my chart to a Top20 this time: positions #11-20 receive points from 10 to 1) ,so that songs have the opportunity to receive certifications:

Certifications:
PLATINUM 500 points
GOLD 250 points

19.09.14
Welcome to my new/old/new chart ;) - Hopefully, I will be able to be more active in this forum again. Keep fingers crossed.. I mean, third time's a charm, right? :D

Am i dreaming? Or is this really happening? :o

Really glad you're back here, the personal charts section missed you so much! :)

...

Interesting number one. I guess i need to re-listen to it but from what i remember it's one of the weaker songs from "All This Bad Blood"...
Impressive chartrun for "Calm After The Storm" :o Have you checked out their album? It's good! Also interesting to see Coldplay in the Top3.

Queen Helene still doing so good after all this time surprises me. The song somehow got old fast for me  But it's still better than everything i ever expected from someone like Helene!
"And We Run" also in the Top10 damn you're stanning more for this song than me :o   It's a shame the song never was a success outside ukmix charts, at least an entry in their homecountry Netherlands should have been possible :( At least we appreciate that gem!

:o @ "Marathon"'s chartrun!!! That's another impressive and even more impressive than "Atemlos"'s chartrun! It never really got me and i prefer other songs from the album so i'm actually surprised it did that good on your charts. Finally, your love for that terrible ESC song has to come to an end my dear

So overall a good week, excited to see the upcoming weeks :)

For everyone who is really into The Common Linnets, you should check out the albums of Ilse DeLange, not because they're similar music, no, Ilse DeLange is (the driving force behind) The Common Linnets, she is the female voice and basically nowadays the only remaining member.

She made several very succesfull albums in The Netherlands, I would especially like to recommend her albums "World of hurt" (debut album 1998) and "Incredible" (2008, which contains her biggest Dutch hits, including the most-played song on Dutch radio in 2008 'So incredible'). Both albums went 5 times platinum in The Netherlands. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilse_DeLange

Btw the guy, who used to be the original partner of Ilse in The Common Linnets, Waylon, also released a new album now and the single "Love drunk" isn't too shabby either, you can find it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzIrsBCrlZg

Thank you & Dankeschön für das herzliche Willkommen zurück ;)

I just bought the re-release of Bastille's album and I am really impressed by the songs. "Oblivion" is such a beautiful track. It's the perfect way to let this era come to an end.

"Calm After The Storm" has turned out to be one of the very few songs released this year I really care about. - I've also bought the album and although I think that it's not as great as the lead single, it's a solid record. I'm thinking of attending their concert in Cologne next month. However, I still need someone who would like to accompany me :D - Which tracks are your favourite of that album? Which songs do I have to listen again? :D

Helene's my new German Queen right now. Didn't expect this to happen but I really, really, do like her (although the album is quite full of schlager tracks) :D

+ "And We Run" is the best track released this year so far. I totally agree on what you've said. It should have been more successful. Curious to get to know the "Acoustic Version" of that song!

"We Are Slavic" is not terrible! - Best performance of the whole night! It should have been part of the Top5. I'm still pissed off that the juries **** up again :D

I'm really glad that you still wanna follow my chart ;)

Thank you ;) Just got interested in Coldplay's latest album. It's a shame that "Atlas" is not included as a bonus track, though. - "Haunted" is fierce. It's my favourite track after DIL ;)
