YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Other Side Of The World deserves that number one! Surely this will reactivate my love for the song, such a beautiful track, it always hits me hard. There's something about the way she sings that is vulnerable yet so sincere. Perfect choice.

I'll get back to comment on the others later.

BONUS TRACK - KT's TOP ALBUMS

4. Tiger Suit (2010) - My rating: 77.3
Image
A good album, solid, but it is kind of in the same line as her previous 3 pieces of work. Great songs are not enough when you are in your third album imo, she needed to surprise and innovate, something she did in the following one.

3. Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon (2013) - My rating: 78.5
Image
Surprising. Beautiful. Fresh. Intimate. Deep.
Loved the feeling and atmosphere around this project. Her voice shines throughout the songs. Gave a whole new perspective of her artistry for me in an already very wide offer.

2. Drastic Fantastic (2007) - My rating: 82.5
Image
As I've mentioned many times before, I think that sophomore albums are tough. So when your first album was great, such heavy weight lies in the shoulder of the artist that it is probably going to be a disaster.
I was suprirsed, nicely, about her job. It was released on Sep 10th, my birthday, and it was a great birthday gift. I liked the rocker sound, and although it lacks some folk flavors, it was refreshing and exciting.

1. Eye To The Telescope (2004) - My rating: 83.3
Image
I don't like the cover. It lacks impact. But the album doesn't. Every second, from the first note in Otherside to the last sound in Through The Dark, shines. 10 songs of the album are amongst my top 40, so that was already a big sign of how this album was going to rate.

How I Met... KT Tunstall
My wife, that back in 2004 was just my friend, was sooooo passionate that I had to check her out. And then the Frod commercial was bringin Otherside everywehre...
Then I kind of lost her when she criticized Dido (I read that in a local newspaper), but her music spoke harder than her words so I just couldn't avoid but kept on listening to her.
Something great about KT is that, with 4 albums in, I have the feeling that she might blow my mind every second with her fifth effort.

IE // CM is her Scarlet's Walk  so stunning and wistful and evocative

and it's her only nice album cover, she really has some bad ones

The US cover for Eye To The Telescope is much better:

Me personally, I rank the albums like this:

1. Eye To The Telescope/Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon (I can't decide)
3. Tiger Suit
4. Drastic Fantastic (even though a couple of my KT faves come from that album, overall it's the one I listen to the least)
Let's embrace the point of no return.

Thanks Virgo! It was really nice to read all your insights and opinions on KT. So thanks for your time and support!

I agree! The us cover is better (although not that good). I chose the other one as it is the one that i have at home :D

Reading your rank, I must admit it is the order I would have thought the final ranking was going to look like. But in this thread I am puting a note to each song and then making the average for each album. And this way I am surprised many times with the results!

This italian girl broke into my life back in 93. She won the San Remo festival in Italy and eventually conquered Latin America. I must admit that, although I liked some songs, I was not a fan of her style... She screams a little bit... ok, she screams a lot sometimes!
But a couple of years ago I was checking some songs and I realized she is fantastic. So many catchy songs, with beautiful lyrics. So many songs I knew by heart, that were there as I was growing up.
She is kind of a guilty pleasure, but happy to be tempted.

Let's start with 5 songs that didn't make the final Top 20 songs:

I didn't know she did spanish songs too!

I know 1 or 2 of her italian stuff from childhood

She has released all of her albums in spanish, she was very big in the 90s and now is popular although not as big... just as so many 90s acts

"Emergencia De Amor" is so good! Probably my favourite along with "Escucha Atento" and "Se Fue" (the first Spanish Version and not last year's duet)

A powerful live performance.
Hoy volví a pensar en ti... suele suceder...

Image

A classic Laura from her first steps. A terrible video... but a very recognizable melody from my teen years.

Es la espera en un teléfono,
la aventura de lo ilógico,
la locura de lo mágico,
un veneno sin antídoto,
la amargura de lo efímero

Image

I was obsessed with this one back when it was released. Probably the song that proved to me that she was going to last and not be just a one album artist.
Cheesy, I know.

Image

Unforgetable song for me.

Image

Another big hit.

Image

Un viaje en un sentido
tiene sentido sin un retorno
sin estaciones ni confines
solo horizontes pero no muy lejanos
yo me sentare en mi sitio
y tu mirándome a mi lado me dirás
vamos destino al paraíso

Another touching song that reminds me of my brother somehow. I hope to see him again when this journey continues.

Image

She was a monster back then releasing unbelievable radio friendly songs one after the other.

So good memories! Lovely song, addictive. Such a guilty pleasure!

She won San Remo Festival with this song. Fantastic.

btw regarding KT, I forgot to recommend her The Scarlet Tulip EP, I think it's great, similar to IE//CM, lots of acoustic guitar and peaceful tunes. not sure if you've heard it so far, but since you haven't had any songs off it in your list I reckon maybe not. you'll like it!

Thanks Benny! I thought you would probably like her by seeing your FSc nominations!

I did listen to them because to do this rank I am checking each artist complete discography. They were all new to me, nice but soemhow didn't manage to chart, probably because they need more listens. But as I respect your music taste so much I will definetly give them more tries! Thanks for always sharing your recommendations!

I am not sure he is the thing for you, but of course you should find some good stuff. Probably from his first 3 albums.
