Hooray for Florence, which seems to be a 'new' discovery for lots of charts this week!

whoawhoa wrote:Overall. I never saw the appeal in "I See Fire". It isn't bad, just a little boring in my opinion. Sorry. :/

They'll probably release "Lean On" Part 2, sooner or later.
Oh don't worry, everyone has his/her own opinion so that's okay :)
(Not sure if you know that "I See Fire" was my #1 on the YEC 2014   )

I think so too. There's actually a new single featuring MO as well, but i haven't heard it yet...

Anyway, i checked out Major Lazer's album and "Powerful" is actually one of the best songs there, it grew on me a lot over the last few days :)

Great debut for the iconic "Toxic" :D I still remember when i watched the music video for the first time... the slayage
Also, love the entry for "Break The Ice" even more as this is one of my favorite songs by Britney. Should have been a much bigger hit... flawless track!

Neither of the Miguel songs you're charting are among my favourites on Wildheart. I also checked out "Bend" and thought it was awful.

On the bright side, I listened to "Photograph" for the first time and I liked it. His vocals were...sweet, for lack of a better word. I'm listening to "Everything Has Changed" now, which is still the best song Ed has ever been associated with.

I'm really pleased to see "Toxic" and "Break the Ice" debut here! They're both among my top five favourite songs from Brit Brit, and the video for "Toxic" is a masterpiece. "Ship to Wreck" makes for a good #1, but there are so many other songs on its parent album I prefer that it sort of gets lost in the greatness.

1. Florence + the Machine - Ship to Wreck STRONGEST DEBUT
2. Janet Jackson - No Sleeep
3. Brandon Flowers - Still Want You
5. Major Lazer Feat. Ellie Goulding & Tarrus Riley - Powerful
6. Britney Spears - Toxic
7. Mariah Carey - Infinity
8. Rachel Platten - Fight Song
9. Kate Miller-Heidke - Offer It Up
10. Ed Sheeran - Photograph
11. Britney Spears - Break the Ice
12. Brandon Flowers - Can't Deny My Love
13. Guy Sebastian - Tonight Again EQUAL BIGGEST LEAPER
16. Giorgio Moroder Feat. Kylie Minogue - Right Here, Right Now EQUAL BIGGEST LEAPER
17. Brandon Flowers - Lonely Town
18. Taylor Swift - Bad Blood
19. Florence + the Machine - What Kind of Man
20. Wiz Khalifa Feat. Charlie Puth - See You Again LARGEST FALLER

whoawhoa wrote:Tarrus certainly has an interesting voice - I like it. I may check out some of his stuff sometime, any recommendations?

"Start Again" is a slow burner - it was a #1 in Australia recently (I believe) and so the radio has influenced my liking for it. I AM SOOOOOO KEEN FOR JANET'S ALBUM!!!! I'm glad that "No Sleeep" has had so much positive feedback (pun not actually intended hahaha) because it is amazing. Janet really needed a sensual song like this, dare I say her best slow jam since "Any Time, Any Place"?

All the music I have on my chart has been legally purchased by myself or a member of my family, either on iTunes or in CD format. Although I enjoy "Cool For The Summer", I don't see it as worth $2.19 of my money quite yet - it might grow on me enough to be purchased though (especially if it's reduced to $1.19 like many songs are). :)
"She's Royal" is the only song I really like from him so I'll recommend that one!

Okay, I definitely agree that "Cool for the Summer" isn't so good as to demand $2.19 from you. In fact, the song's grown off of me alarmingly quickly.

Loved the unintended pun.

Thank you for your comments and sorry I took a fortnight to update again.

I had just purchased the album that week and "Ship to Wreck" is my favourite from it. If you're glad about last chart's results, this week's should please you too.

They are 2 of my all time favourite Britney tracks, so I'm glad you love them too. :) Both the Miguel songs are from his new album Wildheart.

Yes, I was aware that it was your number one.  Sorry.

I'm glad "Powerful" has grown on you, it's a great song.

The music video for "Toxic" is just OH MY GOD! haha. "Break the Ice" is the highlight of Blackout for me, and maybe even her post-In The Zone career! :D

I'm not that much of a fan of "NWA" either. I just happened to play it a lot then. "Hollywood Dreams" however is easily in my top 3 faves from the album - I just love the vibe. 8-) I can see how the production and alternative production of "Bend" (and Chet Faker in general) isn't everyone's cup of tea, but 'awful'. :o

I actually prefer "Photograph" to "Everything Has Changed", the latter annoys me. "Thinking Out Loud" is by far my favourite thing he has done - such a great song that is!

Both in your top 5? Wow! Correct if I'm wrong, but does that mean your Britney top 5 consists of "Break the Ice", "Toxic", "...Baby One More Time", "Piece of Me" and "Stronger"? Or is "Hold It Against Me" in there? All 6 are excellent though. :) Hope you like the new Britney entries of this week.

I'll have to check "She's Royal" out and get back to you. :D Thanks.

"Cool For the Summer" has actually done the opposite and grown on me and yesterday it was reduced on iTunes. So it is now in my iTunes library. It still isn't amazing though - I regard it on a similar level to pop tracks from this year like "Poison" and "Black Magic" - just catchy.

I was really going through a Britney stage a few weeks ago. I'm still listening to her - but no single songs are being played enough times in the week to still chart.

I am now going to post 3 charts in a row, including the new week's one. I have calculated these charts, but due to being extremely busy these past 3 weeks - I haven't had time to format and post them on UK-Mix. Posting these three in a row is more for my personal reference, but obviously feel free to browse through them. Thanks. :)

I love Wings!! Glad it reach the top spot of Australian singles chart.
I love Body Talk too, just listened it for the very first time a couple of days ago.
My other fave from your chart is probably Shine! I listened to Years & Years' album but surprisingly, I don't like it that much. Maybe i'll give it another listen

Thank you for your comment! You are very fast - I was just about to post this week's chart, which I started typing up as soon as I finished last week's delayed one.

"Wings" is amazing! I was beyond delighted that it reached the Aussie chart summit and it has refueled my love with Delta. I am obsessed with her music at the moment. :D

"Body Talk" is excellent too, her best song after "Youth" in my opinion.

"Shine" took a little bit to grow on me, but now I find it ultimately stronger than "King", which is still a great song. It's a shame you didn't like the album, I haven't actually checked it out yet. Maybe it will grow on you. :)

Aw, thanks! :D I'm glad to be back. I've been so busy, but hopefully I have more time to spend on UK-mix again now.

It's my favourite uptempo from Guy in years - I like "Tonight Again" much more now than I originally did. Are you tired of the song?

Great to see all those older Delta Goodrem songs on your chart! I think I prefer all of them to "Wings". Especially "Not Me, Not I", "Lost Without You" and "Born to Try" are great. I miss the Delta album though, that is my clear second favourite after the debut and includes my favourite Delta song, "I Can't Break It to My Heart".

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I commented here! :o Shame on me.

I decided to give your #1 another chance. I'd listened to it three or four times and felt it was a pretty average song, but I've just had it on repeat for the last half-hour and I think I enjoyed it a bit more with each spin; it's such a grower! I never realized how catchy the chorus is. It's a very feel-good song, which will certainly prove useful heading into autumn!

A number of solid Delta songs are here, but none of my favourites ("Dancing with a Broken Heart", "Electric Storm", "Believe Again", "When My Stars Come Out"). "Lost Without You" is the best of the lot, though.

1. Delta Goodrem - Wings
7. Delta Goodrem - Lost Without You
9. Brandon Flowers - Still Want You
10. Delta Goodrem - Innocent Eyes
11. Florence + the Machine - Ship to Wreck
12. Ed Sheeran - Photograph
13. Demi Lovato - Cool For the Summer
14. Mariah Carey - Infinity
17. Major Lazer Feat. Ellie Goulding & Tarrus Riley - Powerful
18. Delta Goodrem - Born to Try

whoawhoa wrote:Both in your top 5? Wow! Correct if I'm wrong, but does that mean your Britney top 5 consists of "Break the Ice", "Toxic", "...Baby One More Time", "Piece of Me" and "Stronger"? Or is "Hold It Against Me" in there? All 6 are excellent though.
My Top 5 from Brit Brit, in decreasing order of eargasm potential is:

(1) ...Baby One More Time
(2) Toxic
(3) Piece of Me
(4) Stronger
(5) Break the Ice

"Hold It Against Me" is brilliant, but I'd rank "Overprotected" ahead of it.

Yes, i got tired of the song already a while ago. I often skipped it back when i listened through the album

Great climb for Years & Years' "Shine" this week, definitely their best track so far 8-)

THANKS for your comments, guys. :D

Magnus wrote:Great to see all those older Delta Goodrem songs on your chart! I think I prefer all of them to "Wings". Especially "Not Me, Not I", "Lost Without You" and "Born to Try" are great. I miss the Delta album though, that is my clear second favourite after the debut and includes my favourite Delta song, "I Can't Break It to My Heart".
I absolutely adore "Wings" and it (probably obviously) convinced me to delve into Delta's discography again, but I understand your sentiment. The 3 songs you mentioned you love especially are all terrific! The reason there are no Delta tracks on last week, or this week's chart is because it is the only one of her albums I do not own - though I plan to purchase it next time I wander into a CD shop. :)

JSparksFan wrote:Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I commented here!

My Top 5 from Brit Brit, in decreasing order of eargasm potential is:

(2) Toxic
(3) Piece of Me
(4) Stronger
(5) Break the Ice

Well, I can't believe how long it's been since you sent me that last message, and I still haven't replied. I have not forgot about it - I just always remember when I'm too busy. haha.

"Wings" is phenomenal, I hear it all the time on the radio here now and it just lifts me up and takes me away every time. Delta managed to get it to #1 in Australia for 2 weeks - her 9th overall and her first since 2007!! So happy for her and her fans, because she deserves it! :D I'm glad you're appreciating it's uplifting spirit - I'll be playing it into Spring, while you play it into Autumn.

I love all of those you mentioned as your favourites. In fact "Electric Storm" is one of my ultimate favourite Delta songs as well and it only missed out on the top 20 last week by a couple plays. This week "When My Stars Come Out" was very close too. Would have been #22. I noticed you didn't put "Not Me, Not I" in the list you made - is that because you aren't familiar with it, or because you don't like it. Hopefully it's the former and if so, I highly recommend it! The way the piano and her voice melt together in that song sends shivers down my spine. 8-)

So my initial top 5 guess was correct!! I love those songs too. "Piece of Me" would have to be my least favourite of the five but I still love it and have fond memories of listening to it in my younger days.

Madness the album never really connected that much to me as a whole, not in the way Armageddon did, which remains one of my favourite albums, and besides, my version doesn't even have "Tonight Again" to skip.

"Shine" really impressed me and I agree completely with your statement. :)

I still haven't listened to "Armageddon"... i wish his stuff is on Apple Music :x
Oh yeah, it's probably just an european edition with "Tonight Again" on it?

Glad to hear you agree about "Shine" and good to see it being stable this week :)
Also great entry for Taylor's new single & amazing leap for Ed Sheeran :D

It's a shame that often the music of Australian artists are restricted for the rest of the world to see. :( I hope you get to hear Armageddon soon though - it's an extremely solid album ,in my opinion.

It's amazing what a single treatment and radio airplay can do to my opinion of a song. "Wildest Dreams" was never a favourite of mine, but now I adore it.
