----------------------Image

Sooo, I decided to start this. I'm very bored. I will update it at the end of each month, with a top 10/15/20 (not sure yet) of artists, albums and maybe songs (thinking about that still). There will be a mix of new and old stuff, totally depending on what I'm listening to. Probably mostly chicks.

It will be based purely on my last.fm records, but in case of ties, the advantage will go to my own overall preference in the given moment.

Tomorrow morning, before listening to anything new in February, I will post my January list which will precisely round up the whole month.

If you have any suggestions for this, let me know and I'll see if I'm non-lazy enough to bother doing them. :D

haha, yes, I was inspired by your compendium and all.

the fact that it only requires monthly updates will hopefully encourage me not to give up. I wouldn't be bothered to do it weekly

Björk's one sounds lovely, one to keep listening to so as to connect with more. Lissie is good, her album is half good, half so-so. I'm still exploring Joni myself too, which is your fave of hers so far?

The song i linked (chinese cafe) is actually one of my faves, but as for albums i'd say start from the 60s/early 70s because the three 80s albums are hit or miss. Chinese cafe is def a gem though!

I'm curious to check Bjork's. People are praising it a hell of a lot. I hope I don't hate it.

Belle and Sebastian's is good, although I rarely play it as a whole. The Everlasting Muse though... love!

you know who she is! :o

not a huge fan of that one, but it's ok. the ones I put here are conincendally this months' most listened, but I also love the title track, Only Son, Polyester Bride etc etc

thinking of nominating it in a future album cup, she's cool.

Nice to see I turned you onto the Jenny Lewis record, which to me was one of my faves last summer.

The Belle And Sebastian album is ace too, cannot wait to get my copy in the mail.

And love the Jenny and B&S songs in your top 10 too 8-)

The album is a little all over the place but I've found it to be a grower. Probably my second fave of 2015 after Vulnicura so far.

do you like Liz Phair NF? she's another 90s gem that went cringeworthy in the new century a la Jewel  but her first 3 albums are so good!

7. Katy Perry - One of the Boys (2008)
Nice choice! Looking back, I think that it's her most authentic album. She seriously needs to go back to her roots (at least halfway).

Nice to see Marina & Björk!

Yes! it took me until now to realize how authentic and good it feels. I liked Teenage Dream (when I was a teenager lol), but never got into the debut. But maybe the lameness of Prism made me go back to OOTB and reaize how good it is.

I doubt she'll ever go back, she's more successful in this form, but you never know

yeah there's some really great songs on RH, it should not be overlooked and considered a continuation of Hard Candy/MDNA

but for each Messiah there's a Holy Water unfortunately...

Sufjan and Marina slay! :D RH is half great/half dreadful, still haven't changed my mind  Jhené is cool too, but I have yet to check out her album (cba :P ).
I managed to check out Scarlet's Walk, it's great. Better than UTP (which I already enjoy). Thank you for your advice!

half great/half dreadful is literally the best description of RH, I adore some of the greats but avoid the rest

Jhené's album is a bit snoozy at first but I really enjoy the production and some songs have grown on me lots

ArmyOfMe wrote:I managed to check out Scarlet's Walk, it's great. Better than UTP (which I already enjoy).
this makes me YASSSSS and please if you put it on your phone and listen to it while walking somewhere on a sunny day you won't regret it, literally 90% of my recent plays of SW are just on my phone during walks  really glad you liked it, it might take some patience because it's long, and the songs probably sound a bit samey at first (they did to me) but it's truly a journey and one by one they'll all grow on you
