Iya,

As I have nothing better to do with my life, I have spent my evening compiling what I believe to be my personal chart of the moment. My only rule is that the songs are current songs (or at least, are when they first chart) - it bears no resemblance to the real chart, it does not reflect real release dates/impact dates/add dates/whateverotherdates. For the purpose of ease, I consume music in a variety of ways. My two primary ways are 1) from the radio at work (either Radio One or X FM, mostly) and 2) from CDs I make for my car (because I drive a car from the 1800s before MP3s were born). New entries, therefore, may be sporadic with songs charting months before they actually come out (if ever) or taking ages to climb up my chart as they grow on me. I also have very erratic taste - what is my favourite song today may well never be listened to again after tomorrow so it may be all over the place. I also have very little alliance or favouritism when it comes to artists/bands. Years & Years are a favourite of mine at the minute, however if I'm not into their next single it will not chart on name alone. In the same token, as a rule I dislike Flo Rida however his next single may be a banger and hit #1 for six months. WHO KNOWS (/cares).

As this is the first week of my chart, this is what I would estimate my previous #1s of 2015 to have been. Dates may not match - any replies saying "oh that song hadn't even premiered on that date" will be given the ignoring they deserve as these are estimates. You have been warned. I will be doing my chart of a Monday, coz I never do anything Monday. Behold;

WEEK COMMENCING:

5/1/15 - Mark Ronson - Uptown Funk (ft. Bruno Mars)
12/1/15 - Tourist - Illuminate (ft. Years & Years)
19/1/15 - Tourist - Illuminate (ft. Years & Years)
26/1/15 - Pvris - My House
2/2/15 - Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do
9/2/15 - Years & Years - King
16/2/15 - Years & Years - King
23/2/15 - Years & Years - King
2/3/15 - Years & Years - King
9/3/15 - Jessie Ware - Champagne Kisses
16/3/15 - Jessie Ware - Champagne Kisses
So there we are. Below is my top 40 - again, I've had a little guess with the weeks (bracketed) - as this is my first chart there aren't positions from last week. The weeks are generally associated with landmarks - if I know a song has been rereleased again I've estimated how long they would have spent on my chart the first time and added it onto how long I'm guessing they've been around for the second time. There are certains times I can pinpoint particular songs to first hearing, and others are pure guesses. New entries are songs that have come into my life in the last few weeks. I present:

CHART – w.c 16/3/15

04 – Nate Ruess – Nothing Without Love (NEW)
03 – Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You (NEW)
02 - Years & Years - King (9)
01 - Jessie Ware - Champagne Kisses (4)
Quite a lot of new entries this week - I'm going to predict that "I Really Like You" and "Nothing Without Love" will stick around a bit as some sort of 2012 re-incarnation prepares to take over the upper end of my chart. Years & Years are hanging about like a bad smell and Jessie Ware is sassing it up at the top of my chart. I've loved her "Tough Love" era, "Say You Love Me" would have topped my chart had I done one and her other two singles are classy AF and would have troubled the top as well. Lower down we've got some lesser new entries from Japanese House, X&Y and Seafret which I'm loving at the minute. They're all mushing into one downtempo thing for me at the min so I'm holding out to see if any settle with me, or whether I still love them all next week. New Mumford troubles the middle reaches of my chart - not blown away by "Believe" if truth be told but the jury is still out. "I'm An Albatraus" has come into my life for no apparent reason this week, we'll see if the novelty wears off and it can stick around.

Stay tuned, viewers. More next week!

Back again -stuck to it for at least two weeks now , I'm very pleased with my committment  As requested, I'm going to add in some links for those who aren't aware of all the songs in my chart. If you fancy hearing some new stuff check them out. First up, here's who we lose this week:

03) Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You (3) (2)
02) Years & Years – King (2) (10)
01) Nate Ruess - Nothing Without Love (4) (2)
Fun. frontman Nate Ruess climb's up to #1 in his second week with his broadway-sounding "Nothing Without Love". I always loved their singles so it's good to hear that his solo material is exactly the same  Years & Years sticking about with "King" at #2, Carly Rae Jepsen holding steady at #3 with her irritating-but-amazing new single, Jessie Ware tumbles from #1 to #4 after two weeks at the top, and Hozier makes an impressive climb with his new single "Someone New". Elsewhere in the top 10, another impressive climb for RHODES with "Turning Back Around" - a nice guitary effort for the spring. The Japanese House are up 1 and everyone else is down a few. Lower down, Luke Friend enters the chart at #11 with his first single post-X Factor "Hole in my Heart" - it's a nice enough effort, but once the "hole in my bucket, dear liza..." novely wears off after a few listens it's not as much fun. Clean Bandit are up a few, Shift K3y are hanging around another week with the Cassie-sampling "Not Into It", new stuff from guitary men All Tvvins and another strong effort from Catfish and the Bottlemen (with what appears to be the millionth single from their album) and the Wombats are in again at #23. A few other new ones from Nick Jonas (a very 90s/Ne-Yo sounding solo effort from him), songwriter-turned-popstar Sophie & the "bom boms" (which sounds a bit like a cross between "Clumsy" by Fergie and "The World Should Revolve Around Me" by Little Jackie, with added brass) and Kodaline's mushy new one lower down. All nice songs but they're all quite new to me so I'm not sure whether I like them or not yet

Wow, I'm quite happy with Rhodes gaining so much.
I wasn't aware of your highest new entry (Luke Friend - Hole In My Heart) so thanks.

Thanks for the reply, you'll be even more pleased this week

Three new entries. Somehow, I seem to have lost a song somewhere while I've been doing it but I can't be bothered to diagnose my error. But we 100% lose;

Mumford and Sons - Believe
Kodaline - Honest
Huge losses, I'm sure you agree.

03) Years & Years – King (2) (11)
02) Everything Everything - Distant Past (7) (3)
01) Hozier - Someone New (5) (3)
With a slow week for new entries, it's all about the climbers this week. Hozier makes his way to the top spot with his summery new single "Someone New", which follows what I'm sure would have been a massive hit on my chart last year (had it existed) in "Take Me To Church". Other notable climbers in the upper regions come from Everything Everything with their magical return to the scene "Distant Past" at #2, The Japanese House with their melancholy "Still" moves up a few, RHODES is back up a couple with "Turning Back Around", X&Y rebound a few to #9 in their third week and Catfish and the Bottlemen are up to 8 with "Home Sick". Otherwise, Milky Chance are hanging around with "Flashed Junk Mind" which spends its 7th week on my chart. All Tvvins are up a few with their catchy single "Thank You" and The Cribs return, just about scraping the top 20. There's a few movers around the lower half, nothing massive to note apart from Nero's new single "The Thrill" making it into the top 40, Luke Friend drops 10 coz I'm bored of "Hole In My Heart" and Lawon enter with the catchy "Roads".

Quite a few new songs have debuted this week - new stuff from Brandon Flowers, Florence + the Machine, Vaccines has all caught my attention as well as that track from Kygo (?) and Rae Morris' new single being worth a listen. I'd expect them entering next week, with the three new entries all potentially making a dent higher up. Edge of your seat stuff!

Thanks! It's a good song, will probably keep climbing!
I've realised that my missing song is Nate Reuss - Nothing Without Love, last weeks number one no less. We'll call him joint two and no more said.
