Thanks for your comments and your shared Top 10s!@heppolo
I think that this time, it's your most diverse Top 10 you have posted in my countdown so far!
Of course, you are still in favor of the quality entries again which I always appreciate about your comments and points! I'm talking about flawless and timeless Italy or The Netherlands. Underrated France and hipster-ish Hungary!
But this time you are also clearly rooting for some fun and trash entries such as Romania (Holy Cow!), Ukraine (Too disney, musical-esque, camp but perfectly sung!), Greece (fun but artifically created Eurovision-esque ska thingy. Turkey 2004 did it sooo much better)
Spain being #10 is a real surprise! I think I have never seen it inside a Top 10 by a Eurovision fan ever. I don't mind the song but it's incredibly boring if you ask me (same applies to Cyprus)
I agree on Russia, Finland, Serbia & Lithuania (even though I somehow like "Something" - It just needed a better production, it feels a bit outdated and wannabe-ish)
Belgium also got me by surprise. I still don't like the track much but Belgium was a clear non-qualifier from the beginning but he got a total makeover. His look changed drastically, his vocal performance improved a lot and also the arrangement of the song got better in time. What a surprise!
Israel not having qualified is a disgrace. I can only blame it on the dress, the juries and perhaps people not being in favor of Israel in general but seriously, this is a timeless classic, beautifully sung and should have been in the final!
I also preferred "Rhythm Of Love". She reminded me a bit of Kylie in the early Millenium. And I loved the "traditional sounding" arrangement in the chorus. It was so much fun! - However, after some time, I started to love "Solayoh" as well. It's so catchy!@Erotica
Nice to see "Glorious" being so high! Finland, Belarus are not surprises. Nice to see France and Norway!
I'm also glad to see the UK!@Colbie
Thanks for taking part as well! Your Top 2 is very interesting! I also liked Malta very much. It's just a pity that I can't give more than 10 countries some points. Malta would be clearly getting a few otherwise.
Estonia is a cute and little surprise (so is Switzerland and Cyprus). Nice to see Israel & Italy!
I hope you will stick with us since your Top 10 got a lot of surprises to offer!@Tansike
No surprise when it comes to your Top 2! But do you really think that Denmark is underrated among fans? Emmelie was pretty popular and I think a lot of them were deliriously happy when she won. In my opinion, there were just a few fans being a bit pissed off that the clear favourite won once again (after Loreen the previous year) and I'm sure that Emmelie's "arrogant" attitude prior the contest pulled some fans off.
If you ask me, I like the track but it's kind of very Eurovision-esque and formulaic. In the end, I can see why it won and I don't mind Denmark winning but I think that Norway would have deserved it more, tbh.
But I'm glad I got you by surprise by putting Denmark in my Top 10. To be honest, it was struggling.. when I made my Top 10, I thought of putting the UK, Malta, France or Ukraine instead but "Only Teardops" is too catchy and too memorable to be overtaken by the mentioned countries. Emmelie's voice is also too good to not mention Denmark that year.
I agree on the Dutch entry aging very well. It's just one of those few very classy tracks which will sound fine even in 10 or 20 years. It's timeless.
I'm glad to see Germany, Azerbaijan! - Wow! You got all "Nordic/Scandinavian countries" in your Top 10! Did this happen before?
And it's really sad to see neither Loreen nor Emmelie having more success in European markets. They had SO MUCH potential. Still waiting for Heak 2.0@Magnus
It's simply crazy how much I love "Euphoria". Obviously, I do not listen to it 30x a day like I used to but it will always have a special place in my heart.
Seeing Denmark on top is no surprise. I'm glad for you that you agree with the overall winner that year! It's indeed catchy
Moldova was great as well! It's definitely part of my Top 20. At first, I was not a huge fan of the song but it improved on me a lot during the semi-finals. Her vocal performance was stunning! I just hated the fact that she stole the dress from Sabina Babayeva (Azerbaijan 2012). The entry was unique and amazing, her vocals stunning. There was no need in copying a perfect performance from the previous year.
Norway was great! I agree with you and heppolo!
We have the same opinion on "Glorious". It's also my favourite song by Cascada!
It's also nice to see Slovenia (terrible performance, though). It was a bit underrated. She didn't deserve to come last!
Wow! So 2013 is your favourite year of all Eurovision editions according to your last.fm plays?@Noahh
Queen Anouk being your #1 is sooo deserved!
Hungary, Belgium, Lithuania, Denmark, Germany, Norway are all fine
- I don't get the love for Sweden though. I thought it got a very good hook and a great production but his voice is unbearable especially when he sings "Youuuuuuuuuuuu" if you ask me. It's perhaps my personal most hated Swedish entry ever (after 2009 maybe).@JSparksFan
So nice to see you, Akini! I love it that you are open-minded and have become a fan of the Eurovision Song Contest!
Your Top 2 is great and I love to see UK, The Netherlands! It's also interesting to see Russia. You are the first one to mention it.
Personally, I thought it was a bit basic for Russian standards (still listenable).@stevyy
Your avatar is fierce! - I agree, Italy should have made Top 3 at least. Classic, Timeless. Marco's also my husband, btw @Airwrecka
Airwreckastan got taste! Denmark, Belarus, Germany, Norway, Azerbaijan! We seem to agree on a lot of countries this time! - Estonia, San Marino, Russia, Georgia... I also liked them but they seemed a bit basic or boring to me, to some extent... they are all listenable and cute but the competition was too high in that year if you ask me.
And you don't have to be sorry for putting the actual winners as your #1s as well! I am glad you can agree with the public and the jury!@KokoCollino
No worries, I am glad you shared your comments and thoughts on 2012! The Big 5 was indeed very strong but I also liked the semis, to be honest.
I totally agree with Loreen being the Queen of Eurovision. Her label, her team kind of **** up her career. She was meant to be huge and big in Europe. She needs to collaborate with Calvin Harris or David Guetta to finally get some attention again. I have no words on how her incredible talent got wasted.
I'm surprised to see Kaliopi being your #2! Interesting choice! "Dona" was indeed horrible.
Spain got a great vocal performance and I like Pastora a lot but it was a bit too cheesy to get a Top 5 spot, I guess.
Cyprus, Germany, Italy are all fine! - Not so sure about Norway. He failed because of horrible live vocals, a generic track and a very camp performance. Bulgaria should have made it into the final instead
Montenegro was fun on CD and I love the music video where he's riding the monkey and so on... but the performance was a mess!
Like he didn't even care.
Conchita's song 2012 was horrible. She wouldn't have made the final in 2014 with such a trashy drag anthem. I'm glad she went classy instead!@Leychen
Another guy being d'accord with the actual winner! Nice to see Denmark, Germany (Cascada got robbed!), UK, The Netherlands, Italy!
The rest of your Top 10 was listenable and enjoyable on stage as well but I never go back to listen to them, to be honest.
