Paul is everything. >>> Not in my top 3 from him these days but Paul doesn't really ever release anything sub-par in general, he is just always great.

12. Mary J. Blige - Growing Pains
9. MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
5. Paul McCartney - Memory Almost Full
3. Bruce Springsteen - Magic
2. Killers - Sawdust

I think Paul's album is great. Not as good as Chaos in Creation which I worship, but definately amazing.

American Doll Posse? :o really?? and over MGMT, Bjork and Arcade Fire? I'm surprised!*

didn't know you loved that album. it's a total long midlife crisis hot mess, kinda reminds me of late Madonna in that respect. there is a lot of good stuff there, but just that abnormal amount of songs ruins any possibility of it being a quality wholesome work. not to mention the muddy garage-band production, awful concept and some really bad songs

but again, the good stuff makes it listenable for me so I'd probably rank it on my 2007 list as well if I had one. and have to give her credit for trying extra hard (tryhard is the definition of ADP) with the different styles and shows and energy, even if it fails as a unified work

*as a stan, pleasantly surprised, as an objective person, unpleasantly

ADP was the first time I really immersed myself in Tori during the actual era as opposed to coming into BFP, Choirgirl, Under The Pink, etc... a few years after the fact and discovering how great they were. I fell in love with those other albums after their eras were done, ADP I bought the week it came out and listened to it nonstop for weeks. That and Volta came out at the exact same time (a week apart) and I remember loving ADP and connecting with it much more than Volta which I still think it probably her spottiest album, and usually I am a far bigger Bjork fan.

I do think the album does suffer from excess bloat especially in the second half of the album, but if we condensed it to 12-14 tracks it would be a remarkable album that would've gone over much better than it did.

NF I need your opinion on REM's Accelerate! thinking about trying it next in their discography

in the 2009 batch I only like Gaga, the FF album didn't impress me

for 2008 - love FoE, Seventh Tree, Bring Ya. all really cool albums. Cyndi should've smashed with that one, not only was the lead single a total bop, but Echo even featured on Gossip Girl and she did an appearance there as well. despite all that (which should kinda guarantee more success) the ageism prevailed sadly

Accelerate is hands down their hardest rocking album, even moreso than Monster. It was actually welcome after the snooze-inducing Around The Sun. It was a calculated "comeback" album to get back in good graces after what a massive flop ATW was, but it had some of their best work in years.

well, there's only maybe three "hard" songs on it, it was more upbeat and energetic compared to some of their recent work. Stipe even admitted that they had planned to break up earlier but essentially did Accelerate and Collapse Into Now as ways so they could bow out with some dignity and credibility restored to their name.

11. Alanis Morissette - So Called Chaos
8. Gwen Stefani - Love Angel Music Baby
6. Bjork - Medulla
5. U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
All interesting choices, albums that I enjoyed, but these are the ones that I highlight. Alanis was really good. Gwen was hit&miss but the album is cool. Bjork was strange but fresh, some songs are really great. U2 was strong too, great follow up to ATYCLB which was excellent.

2005
14. Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine
8. Gorillaz - Demon Days
7. Coldplay - X&Y
6. Kate Bush - Aerial
5. Mary J. Blige - The Breakthrough
3. Mariah Carey - The Emancipation Of Mimi
2. Goldfrapp - Supernature
1. Madonna - Confession On A Dance Floor
Strong year! Mimi was iconic imo, for a MAriah lamb it was a beautiful experience. MAdonna was superb. KAt Bush delivered a fantastic set imo. The rest are great too.

2006
15. Jewel - Goodbye Alice In Wonderland
9. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
3. Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSounds
JEwel's one is probably my fav from her. IT is really good, I love the song Goodbye Alice... and the album is a strong set of country-influenced songs, which I like a lot. AMy was overestimated imo. Very good but not more.

2007
10. Bjork - Volta
4. Tori Amos - American Doll Posse

A very strong Alanis.
