Ghostpoet nails a second number one on the chart (the previous being last September's Massive Attack collaboration, Come Near Me), while alt-J, Ulrika Spacek and Feist move into jockeying positions. Mac DeMarco boasts the biggest climb of the week (#25, +14), with Life also bagging a ten-place jump (#15, +10). Just four new entries this week, but these include a strong debut for Mogwai (#21), a second concurrent hit for the aforementioned Ulrika Spacek (#29) and the return of the great Peter Perrett (#38). Countdown as follows...

...and how. Outside of Mogwai, it's hard to see who might shift Ghostpoet from the summit, although there are some pretty solid climbs from Mac DeMarco (#14, +11), Peter Perrett (#22, +16) and ISM (#28, +11). Five new cuts include the return of DJ Shadow (#31) and a first showing for the curious Snapped Ankles (#32). Here's the SP:

Ghostpoet somehow holds off Mogwai to claim a third week at number one, while Mac DeMarco's perhaps unexpected vault also places him in contention for the top. The biggest jump however is for DJ Shadow (#13, +18) - with Peter Perrett (#10, +12) and Tom Williams (#22, +11) also enjoying substantial climbs. This week's five new entries find themselves at the bottom end, headed as they are by South Shields singer/songwriter Nadine Shah at #32...

Yes, even they themselves admit that it's kind of an 'all grown up' J&MC on the latest album.

As for The Charlatans, Colin Stetson's track has been out even longer than that - so be thankful!

Mogwai finally prevail to take over the summit, but highest new entry Black Flower by Hempolics & MC Brett (#17) looks a decent bet to top the chart in the next few weeks: five further new cuts feature a few returning artists, plus a first chart entry for Big Boi and pals (#37). Nadine Shah's modest twelve-place jump (#20) is the week's biggest climber, with Colin Stetson also boasting a ten-place improvement (#23) and Berlin's Ulrika Spacek enjoying a generally good week (#4; #11)...

Something of a logjam behind Mogwai, with Mac D, Shadow and Peter P edging ever closer, but all somewhat overshadowed by the inexorable rise of Hempolics (#4, +13) - whose impact this week has also seen a reversal of fortunes for their previous single (#26). UNKLE/Lanegan's sixteen-place climb is however the chart's best (#16), with significant jumps also for Colin Stetson (#8, +15), RBCF (#20, +15) and Ride (#21, +13). Radiohead's two-decade-old I Promise finally makes the cut as the week's highest newcomer (#24), heading three further entries, including the charming Moonshine Freeze by Kate Stables, aka This Is The Kit (#35). Those numbers:

Well, thanks for that. Speedking still sounds pretty cool - a far cry from what J Murphy's done since.

With Mogwai holding firm, it's otherwise a week of substantial jumps: Radiohead's climb of nineteen places (#5) would normally be enough to secure the week's best, however that accolade goes to PSB (#14, +26), whose rise becomes the best since the chart re-emerged last summer. (Another record also goes, with alt-J's twenty-place dive [#29] representing the biggest plunge in the same time period.) Other artists faring well include RBCF (#9, +11), the aforementioned LCD Soundsystem (#13, + 12) and This Is The Kit (#17, +18). Prophets Of Rage finally return with an appropriate message (#26), with four other new(-ish) tracks making the cut...

Mogwai record a month at the top, while Radiohead fail to consolidate on last week's nineteen-place vault: five other Top Ten records improve steadily, however. Floating Points's jump (#15, +22) is the week's best, while seven newcomers are led into battle by Thurston Moore (#24), with the second charting song from his Rock 'n' Roll Consciousness album...

31 NE 31 01 City Rejects – Ho99o9
Interesting one, albeit a bit random, reminds me of the mid 90s indie like Pop Will Eat Itself
32 NE 32 01 Illuzia – Balloons Kill Babies
Good post-rock entry

(A day early, since I'm off on my jollies tomorrow...)

All change at the top end, Hempolics finally wresting number one from Mogwai who slide to number seven. Floating Points complete an impressive climb of 35 places in just a fortnight (#2), with TITK also looking strong (#3). Further decent jumps come courtesy of The Duke Spirit (#12, +15), Arcade Fire (#16, +18), Balloons Kill Babies (#18, +14) and Goldie (#25, +10). The 2017 vogue for returning nineties artists continues with SFA who are the week's highest newcomers with a track set for a first release via the twentieth-anniversary reissue of Radiator (#29). Here's the skinny:
