50. I Refuse
To kick things off, it's a fan favourite from the Red album. I can understand why a lot of people like this one - it's 6 minutes of chilling vocals over haunting music. However, I always used to think it was a drag back when I was 13 years old, and to be totally honest, I would stop playing the album here - so I hardly ever listened to the Alt R&B music which the album has become so well-lauded for. Only recently have I revisited those tracks, and while I like them more than I used to, I don't have any strong nostalgia with them due to never playing them back then. I hope this one grows on me more in the future, because it really is a stunning song.

49. It's Whatever
Just like the Aaliyah album, 'It's Whatever' comes next. As I explained in the previous commentary, I have little nostalgic connection with the final few songs on the album, so expect to see them fall quite quickly. This one is a neo-soul groove, which is definitely more up my street than some of the rock-infused tracks, but it still needs to grow on me properly.

48. Are You Feelin' Me?
This one brings back memories of 2000 when 'Romeo Must Die' came out. Although not an official single in the UK, I recall hearing it quite often and it signalled a big change for Babygirl, as the ass-kicking actress. The song is cool, especially her vocals which shine, but it's not one I regularly revisit.

I love I Refuse, but I must admit I rarely listen to it. Great song - very mature, smooth but dramatic.

It's Whatever sounds like a love child between Maxwell and Aaliyah. Her vocals delivery here is heavenly.

I like the instrumental of Are You Feelin' Me, but I don't listen to it much.

"It's Whatever" is amazing, so underrated. The same goes to "Are You Feelin' Me?". It should have been a single after "Try Again".

47. Street Thing
Aaliyah's debut is a really cool album of 90's R&B. Sure, it's dated - but in a good way, because the sound of that time is so funky. However, whilst her debut has some of my faves on it, there are a bunch of songs which I consider average and they kinda blend into one fr me. 'Street Thing' is one of those.

44. I Can Be
This is a very last minute addition to my chart! I even wrote the commentary for my original #44, but after listening to that song and I Can Be side by side, this is definitely a stronger track and much better than those 'Age' tracks too. Y'all know the story between me and those last few songs from the Red album, however, this one is definitely a cool track and showed so much promise. If I were to do this chart again in a few months, it could even sneak into the top 40 perhaps.
And what was my original #44 which is now #51? Giving You More.

Age Ain't Nothing but a Number is so underrated. I understood why she had to move on from that record quickly but it's such an amazing album!

Street Thing is one of the highlights on AANBAN for me.

I'm Down & I'm So Into You are both fillers. That album has way too many fillers IMO. Brandy and Monica's debuts were much stronger.

I Can Be is one of my favorite Aaliyah songs. The rock-ish sound, the lyrics that perfectly capture emotions of a side chick >>>>>>>

I'm a bit sad Giving You More got snubbed :( it's a great song.

43. We Need a Resolution
The first single to appear is one of the biggest fan favourites and probably one of the biggest shocks on my countdown! I'm aware that some of you would rate this as Aaliyah's best song ever, but for me, I never really liked it much when it was released and that didn't change after her passing. I was quite disappointed when it first came out, and I tried to like it, but it was a little bit too out there for me I think. One thing I can really appreciate is the instrumental - it's really cool! The video is edgy too, with a totally new look for her and Tim's rap is great. It's listenable but not one I play too often.

42. Choosey Lover (Old School/New School)
The first song to appear from 'One in a Million' is the 7 minute long 'Choosey Lover'. It is the long length which has always put me off this song, especially when I was younger and I like my songs to be less than 5 minutes. Now that I'm older, I can tolerate the long length but only sometimes. I prefer the Old School half complete with that guitar solo.

41. Back in One Piece (feat. DMX)
I used to really like this one, and I still do, but I can't stand DMX's disgusting rap - it's vile. Other than that, it's a bop!

We Need a Resolution was so ahead of its time. Such an unique bop. And yes I'm shocked to see it so low :P

Choosey Lover is one of my favorites! 7 minutes of pure bliss.

I hate Come Back In One Piece. I never listen to it.

I love "We Need a Resolution". It's sad that it didn't click with the public. It's just so sad that it was her last single which she was able to promote.
