GaGarazzi wrote:As a big Zazie fan I am a little disappointed by her new album. Her voice comes across as too raspy and there are no songs that really stand out for me. Rodéo is a good album with two songs I really love: the title track and Toc Toc Toc. However I do prefer a few some of her other albums. The visual aspect is indeed interesting and well done. Do you speak French or just like the melodies?
French was one of my major subjects at high school. But I wasn't very good at it. I even went to four weeks of French summer camp to improve my French. So I should speak/understand French. But it is a very difficult language. Especially as you never have to speak/read/hear it (except for when I'm listening to French music).

Some songs are easy to understand like Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore by Celine Dion. But some songs I've no clue what they are about. So melody is also really important.

It's great to see "God Is A Woman" - which is arguably the best song of this year - back on your chart! Natasha St.-Pier's entry is very cute! lovely to see her on your chart!

OUT:
10. (re) Mylène Farmer feat. LP | N'oublie Pas (7 weeks) peak #1
11. (ne) Agency | Deeper And Deeper (7md Remix Edit) (1 week) peak #11
12. (ne) AGNEZ MO feat. Chris Brown | (Love) Overdose (1 week) peak #12

20. (re) Paul de Leeuw & Clouseau | Niets Meer (2 weeks) peak #4

Highlights:
Debbie Gibson is still at #1 with her new single Your Forever Girl. Releasing the video and even more for having it available on Spotify helped a lot with holding on to the #1 spot. Mariah Carey enters at #2 with her just released song GTFO. With only one day of streaming and already going to #2 shows it has a lot of potential to be #1 next week when she has a whole week of scrobbles. The song Hoeveel Ik Van Je Hou was released on Spotify by Elske Dewall, but then withdrawn (which is a real shame). So the scrobbles are mostly for me playing her YouTube performance. Meanwhile Marco Borsato has the chance of getting the bigger hit with the same song as it is on Spotify and so I could add it to my playlist.

Highlights:
With a full week of scrobbles, Mariah takes the #1 spot leaving everyone else far behind her. The highest new entry is for Mylène Farmer protégé Julia with SEXTO. Thanks to GaGarazzi for bringing my attention to her. My prediction for Marco Borsato taking over scrobbles from Elske Dewall (both singing Hoeveel Ik Van Je Hou) has not come true as Elske's version has returned to Spotify! Another Dutch song comes from Abel. A cover version of their song is #1 on the charts in the Netherlands: Verleden Tijd by Frenna & Lil Kleine. This made me re-discover the original version titled Onderweg. With En Vogue releasing Reach 4 Me as their new single, I have given this track a second chance. At #25 it's Trijntje Oosterhuis who sang this Marco Borsato original at De Beste Zangers van Nederland.

Nice to see you enjoyed my #1 last week. Also nice to see Zazie make a début in your charts. Is this your favourite song from her new album?

Curious to see how Mylène's new song débuts in your chart tomorrow. Have you heard her new album? It's fantastic!

Sorry to say, I'm not so taken by Zazie's new album. I did listen to all songs and gave some songs a little more play than others. Speed is my favorite, I guess.

Listening to Mylene's new album right now. Sounds good!

Highlights:
Despite only being available for just one day, With You by Mariah Carey got scrobbled by me so often, it leaped to the chart in just that one day. Another new entry that is worth mentioning is Don't Let Me Go by Raign. I stumbled upon this song when watching clips of Glennis Grace doing America's Got Talent. YouTube suggested Raign's audition for another show and I was taken by the song she sang: Don't Let Me Go. For the audition, watch the clip below:

Mariah Carey holds strong positions at #1 and #3. The Butterfly chanteuse gets the most competition from Papillon (meaning Butterfly in French) chanteuse Lara Fabian, who has just released the lead single from her up-coming album (that is scheduled for a February 2019 release). Kylie Minogue announced last week that Music's Too Sad Without You will be the final single taken from her Golden album. It had a two week stay in May in my chart with #20 as its peak. It returns at #20 and who knows... maybe it will break its peak next week.

Like I said in Stevyy's thread, "With You" is a masterpiece in songwriting. I seem to love it more with each passing day.

Pleased to see "Don't Lie to Me". I don't expect to see that one in many charts, but it's a good song, with a very relevant subject matter.

01. (01) Mariah Carey | With You (2 weeks) peak #1
03. (03) Mariah Carey | GTFO (5 weeks) peak #1
05. (05) Mylène Farmer | Sentimentale (3 weeks) peak #3
06. (07) Rita Ora | Let You Love Me (3 weeks) peak #2
09. (08) Little Mix & Cheat Codes | Only You (11 weeks) peak #2

14. (14) Ariana Grande | God Is A Woman (12 weeks) peak #1

Great to see Mylène hold on and make a new entry to your chart. I'm guessing by the absence of the other tracks that her new album didn't particularly impress you?

I really like the album, but I want every song to have a chance on it's own. So I will pick other songs to listen more intensively to in the coming weeks, when I get bored of the first ones.

29. (re) Amy Grant | Better Than A Hallelujah (6 weeks) peak #4

Highlights:
I wasn't really taken by Kylie's Music's Too Sad Without You, but after giving it another try now it's been released as a single it smashed it's former peak of #20. It's gone all the way up to #1. Glad she released this song as a single or I might not have given it another chance and I would have missed out on of her best songs ever.
Although only having one day of scrobbling, Mariah's latest track The Distance enters at #7. It gives Mariah three top 10 hits at the same time with GTFO en With You also still going strong.
While playing SongPop I tumbled on Tamia's Stranger In My House. Despite only hearing a few seconds, I liked what I heard and added the song to my playlist. And what a great song it is!

Fantastic debut for Brandi Carlile! Love that new version with Sam... a shame she‘s so underated.

Hi RayRay :D

01. (20) Kylie Minogue & Jack Savoretti | Music's Too Sad Without You (4 weeks) peak #1

Amazing to see Kylie & Jack shooting up to #1. <3 Its also looking set to return to my chart today and definitely looking set to better its previous peak of #9 when the album was released. I adore how glamorous the whole video looks and the added christmas bells is a nice touch.

02. (ne) Michael Bublé | Love You Anymore (1 week) peak #2

Another beautiful song from Michael Bublé although won't get this high in my chart as i'm still loving a number of other songs more.

03. (01) Mariah Carey | With You (3 weeks) peak #1

It might not be a high peaking single in my own chart but With you has done well so far and the music video helped to give the song a nice boost last week, even though the track still ended up slipping down my chart a little.

04. (ne) Paloma Faith | Loyal (1 week) peak #4

Such a rousing chorus, i have to admit when i first checked out the video i was a bit 50/50 with Paloma's vocals on the verses as they sounded lower than usual. But yes, that chorus really brings the song to life. Another track that's looking set to enter my chart today.

05. (06) Rita Ora | Let You Love Me (4 weeks) peak #2

Poor Rita, i do like Let you love me but its lost in the crowd with my loving other songs more. It looks like it'll be one of those songs with a lengthy chart run but without ever peaking high.

Best of the rest:

06. (03) Mariah Carey | GTFO (6 weeks) peak #1
10. (07) Sigala feat. Kylie Minogue | What You Waiting For (3 weeks) peak #6
11. (10) Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper | Shallow (3 weeks) peak #2
12. (30) Barbra Streisand | Don't Lie To Me (3 weeks) peak #4
19. (09) Little Mix & Cheat Codes | Only You (12 weeks) peak #2
20. (11) Calvin Harris feat. Sam Smith | Promises (9 weeks) peak #2
21. (14) Ariana Grande | God Is A Woman (13 weeks) peak #1
22. (15) Demi Lovato | Sober (16 weeks) peak #1
29. (12) Janet Jackson feat. Daddy Yankee | Made For Now (9 weeks) peak #1

Good debut for Take That. I'm not too keen on the song. It is cute tho.

Mariah better take the #1 next week.

OMG impressive jump for Kylie's new single! Love the new version (with the jingle bells). Beautiful music video!

Not a huge fan of your #2. I prefer his previous single. The new Mariah song is good, though!

Great to see the duet at #3 in your list. I prefer the album version as the edit ends too soon IMO.

I like how they do something different. It's not a typical Take That song.

Mariah has a lot of competition as there are many great songs at the moment. The Distance will miss the first day scrobbles when I usually play a new song the most to get to know it. But who knows.

When I Fall In Love is a great song, but Rick Astley did a great version in the 80s and Celine Dion did even a better version in the 90s. No need for Michael to cover the song too.

29. (12) Janet Jackson feat. Daddy Yankee | Made For Now (9 weeks) peak #1
30. (23) Raign | Don't Let Me Go (3 weeks) peak #10

Highlights:
Sarah Brightman's first single of the new album didn't do anything for me. But the title track is everything! Can't wait for the album to be released now!
Mariah Carey still holding strong with three songs in my list. Her latest release The Distance lost out on the #1 spot due to it being released last week on Thursday. With just one day of scrobbles it still entered my chart straight into the Top 10. But as all those first day scrobbles don't count for this week (which was the day I scrobbled it most), it falls on my chart instead of climbing it. If I look at the scrobbles of its first seven days though, it would have been easily #1.
Another singer with three songs in the list: Lady Gaga. With two songs from the A Star Is Born movie plus a feature on the Chic song I Want Your Love (not to be confused with Bad Romance), Lady Gaga is doing really well.
Tamia is climbing my chart. Partly due to me having discovered the Thunderpuss Radio Mix.
Some older songs chart as new as I've just discovered those songs: Afterglow by Harriet (someone at the DebHeads Facebook page talked about her sounding like Karen Carpenter) and Desperado by the Eagles (as my husband loves this song and was watching an Eagles special on tv).
Another song worth mentioning is Sweet but Psycho by Ava Max. It was the #1 last week on the personal chart of JakeP. He thought I would like it and should listen to it as according to him "it's glorious unashamed pop music".

I didn't go to church today, but I guess "Hymn" isn't a terrible spiritual substitute. I don't particularly like it, but there is a beauty within it, definitely.

Yay at "With You" still doing well here, and "Always Remember Us This Way" earning a high debut!

09. (01) Kylie Minogue & Jack Savoretti | Music's Too Sad Without You (5 weeks) peak #1
10. (07) Mariah Carey feat. Ty Dolla $ign | The Distance (2 weeks) peak #7
11. (06) Mariah Carey | GTFO (7 weeks) peak #1
12. (11) Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper | Shallow (Radio Edit) (4 weeks) peak #2
